Hello, I think I got flim-flammed by Cabellas. I thought I was buying Winchester 22 WMR 40gr. HP which we have had great sucess with in our
882s, my son and I each have one. Anyway, they sent HSM brand. It is from Montana (I think) and I've never heard of it before. It comes in an orange box with a target printed inside. Anyone ever used this? They have a website and list a bunch of "tactical" this and that. I will most likely use this stuff I just wondered.

H S M -- Now PRIDE

HSM has had their operation out of Montana.

It is my understanding that they have been purchased (partly to get some of their powder load formulas) by an outfit in Henderson, Nevada.

It seems the most recent stuff to ship with the orange HSM label is from the newer outfit. The ammo is ALL NEW, not re-manufactured. It is loaded just as HSM was loading.

When the new labels arrive, the boxes (I have been told) will be "PRIDE" ammo.

I have just picked up a hundred of their .223/5.56 to test.

I'll report back on its performance once I've had it at the range.

I've shot 100 rounds of their .357 magnum and had 2 duds.

...but the 100 rounds only cost me 14 bucks so I think I can live with that.

I use HSM .22mag with no problems and good results. I would expect to pay less for it though. I have seen it online for a better buy than Cabellas

HSM match ammo is very popular with NRA HP shooters around here. i wouldn't hesitate to use it. In fact, given the choice of winchester or hsm for the same price, i'd take HSM every time.

The HSM factory is about 40 miles from my house. I have been there several times. I use their ammo in my 300 SAUM (rifle), 38 special, and my 454 Ruger Alaskan. I have not had any problems with any. The last time I was at the factory was February picking up 454s. I have not heard anything about a partial buy out from NV. Rugerdude I think they would like to have heard about your 357 problem. Most of their ammo goes to law enforcement and 2 duds is way too many.

Define DUD, was it a squib of did it not fire at all. Your gun may just not have hit the primer hard enough. Did you try to hit it again?
