What were the popular hunting shows on TV in the 70s or 80s ? I wasnt into hunting up to the 1996 so my only access were renting tapes like Roger Raglin , Real Tree by Bill JOrdan and other educational videos from the public library. Now that i have cable with Outdoor and Sportsman Channel, im beginning to know the personalities and various names in the industry.

I'm not old enough to know what was on TV back then. I've always enjoyed Buck McNeely, but he didn't hit the airwaves until the mid 80's.

Joe Foss hosted American Sportsman for a time. He was quite a man:

- Rec'd Congressional Medal of Honor for combat in WWII
- Gov of South Dakota
- President of NFL
- President of NRA
- Evangelical Christian

This guy knows adversity. Longest running hunting/fishing show in the US:

Not even close to the longest running in the US. Team Fitzgerald has been producing T.V. and Video hunts for a lot longer.

What the OP needs to think about is cable has not been around all this time. In the 70's and early 80's most people had "Over the air" and a few had sat. So you had your local programming and very few of those would ever dream of putting a hunting show on there for fear of someones dainty feelings being hurt because someone shot bambi on tv.
