130 gr. at 1300 fps is "mid range" for .357 - The old Remington and Federal 125 gr. loads at 1450 gave the .357 the "king of the hill" rating, and several years on back, there were some 158 gr. bruisers that ran above 1500. Tales of some of the Texas lawmen taking out the differential of a fleeing car, back in the late '30s, were chuckled at later as "Texas Tall Tales". They weren't. I've shot an old Chevy six through the waterjacket, over a cylinder. When the head was pulled, the bullet had stopped at the sleeve, but shattered the piston. This stuff was lead, loaded before jacketed pistol ammunition came along. Load and bullet development have resulted in some fine defensive ammo in the past few years, and they keep getting better. The old stuff relied on raw power.
