Well it looks like I’m getting a savage model 11 260 Remington and I went to check sure enough I had dies for it already so it was meant to be!

Now onto more serious matters does anyone load for it? If so do you have a good handload recommendation or a place to start I’m a 6.5 Junkie so I have plenty of bullets powder that I think will be suitable for this main task is Deer hunting in
SW Mo shots are going to be 3 yards to 300 yards potentially

I've worked up a hunting load using the SGK #1726 . This is one of their newer tipped Gameking's not their normal soft lead tip. I used Varget with a OAL of 2.661" which gives me a 0.040" jump. Gives me 1/2 moa out of a old Rem Model 7 at 200 yrds. I've been looking off and on for some more of these and have not had any luck. Not completely out but running lower than I like. Alone with a few other Sierra bullets.

It shoots everything from 85 to 160 gr. Never ran out of room with 140s. Mine came with a scope as a package deal but you'll be limited unless you add a decent optic. I had a lot of fun with jacketed loads but only shoot cast in it now. My chosen loads for each bullet weight in the table towards the end of the review.

If you're looking for an accurate load there is no way of knowing what your gun will like.
The Lyman manuals list a "Potentially Most Accurate" load in their data. IMO that would be a good place to start.
I know these days with the prices and availability of components it's hard to do the usual work ups which could use a good number of components. You might try Lyman load data.

If you don't have access a Lyman manual PM me which powder/powders you have and I'll tell you what's in the Lyman manual.

22-250, 244 rem, 30 carbine, 7mm mag, 30 mauser, I've got dies for all of them. Even brass and bullets for some. Don't have a single firearm chambered for any of them. One day, I'm going to inventory them all and post them for sale.

One of my son's first deer rifle was a Model 7 .260. He's using up some Remington 140 SP's loaded over Varget. He's killed a bunch of deer and a nice black bear with that rifle and load.

I acquired 7.62x39 dies recently and wouldn't mind putting them to use someday.

I have several sets of dies that I don't have guns for. Weather they were to help a buddy make some hunting loads, or they came in a lot with something else, I have quite a few sets. I hope a few of them turn into a new gun, but I hold onto all of them just in case I need them someday.

I think we all have dies one time or another in which we don't have rifles for lol.

Years ago I was at an auction and a really clean set of Hornady 45-70 dies came up. I got them very cheap but didn't have anything chambered in 45-70. I figured eventually I would. (and did lol)

The 260 is a easy cartridge to load for. A case full of 4064 or Varget and whatever Sierra Bullet that suits the purpose should shoot great.
Lots of other combos will work too!
