Well, my friend had me shoot his 22 cal Buckmark the other day and I realized that now I need one of those.

Went to a gun store today and looked at a few. I really like the S&W 41 but even the used one was going for $699 nah. Looked at Ruger MK II and MK III but I think the Browning Buckmark felt the best in my hand.

This particular model was Buckmark 55 with reddot scope on it already but it was used. Asking price was slightly less than the brand new one without the scope, same model.

Well, I am torn. Do I get a used one with scope? or get brand new one without? I know this question maybe really basic to some but I am certain that some of you may have faced same dilema as mine.

How reliable are the Buckmark series guns used? or should I get the brand new?

Thanks in advance...

-Andrew.

Buckmarks are every bit as reliable as the Rugers. Personally I prefer the Rugers but know several owners of the Bucks that love them. Either way you couldn't go wrong. Get the used one. If you like it that much, you'll probably want another one anyway like I did with the Ruger. If not, well, that scope might be a good selling point.

I love my Buck Mark. The Mk II Rugers are nice and they can be accessorized as much as a '55 Chevy or VW Beetle whereas you're pretty limited on the Buck Mark. However, the ergonomics on my Buck Mark are better than any Ruger I've handled. Accuracy on mine out of the box was quite acceptable. It points very naturally in my hand.

The only change I made to mine was a Weigand scope rail to augment the top and a holosight. Sometimes it wears a 2x7 variable.

Regards,
Rabbit.

I love my Browning Buckmark Bullseye Target pistol (7 and 1/4" barrel) - great trigger and it shoots better than I do. Here's a photo:

I have a Trailside which is great. My brother has a Buckmark which he just loves. Can't go wrong with the Ruger either. Check em all out and see which one YOU like. :)

I picked up one of these a while back and everyone loves it...can't get the kids to let me shoot it when we go to the range...:)

Beware the Buckmark with a red-dot: They're more addictive than crack. If you like shooting with a red-dot, I'd advise you to go that route. If you prefer to shoot open sights, obviously you should buy the NIB. The BM pistols are wonderful to shoot and I don't think you have anything to worry about; if the used pistol in question appears sound and tight - go for it.

And this from comes from Baphomet, High Priest and sole member of the Church of the MKII. Sure I'm an MKII bigot, but the BM's are great little pistols, no doubt about it. Add a red-dot and you've got a recipe for more fun than most mortals are prepared to handle.

I really like the S&W 41 but even the used one was going for $699

You may want to shop around a bit. I ordered this new one last spring for $730.
