Yeah, it starts with one and then before you know it...

I now have 3 Dave Vail knives. I bought the first at a Raleigh gun show partly because I thought the bur maple looked great and partly because I wanted one nice fixed-blade knife that felt great in the hand. (I do have my dad's Marble that is at least 60 years old, probably older.) I also like buying face-to-face from someone, and Dave is a heck of a nice guy as is his wife Ginny, whom I also met at the show. Buying good product from good people...well, you just can't beat that.

I went to another Raleigh show yesterday and just couldn't decide between 2 that I liked. You know the rest... :D (4 pics follow)

Wow! I can see why you couldn't decide on just one! Nice collection there...Oops! It's not a collection, it's not a collection!

Very nice!
Could you give some details? What steel? Blade length/thickness?

That Bloodwood is sexy! If you don't mind me asking, what did he charge for that one?

Dave uses ATS-34 steel. The burl has the larger Bob Loveless drop point design blade (3 7/8 L blade and 1/4" width at thickest), the stag is the smaller Loveless design (3 5/8 L bladeand 5/16" at thickest), and the Bloodwood (HOT!) is Dave's design that has a blade length of 3 1/4 and thickest width at 1/4. (I'm new to this...I measured the blade thickness at the end of the blade against the guard.)

I really like them all, but the Bloodwood is a knockout!

Frandy, who is just a satisfied customer...
