I don’t know if this is new, but it is new to me, Rossi Trapper

I have a Rio Grande 45-70 Rossi and it is a great gun (aside from the top lever safety thing).

Are there enough Marlin 1895s on the shelves that a choice can be made when the Rossi starts showing up?

Demand certainly seems to be higher than supply. I know a few people who were initially looking for a Marlin and ended up with a Rossi when they couldn't find one.

I want but might not can get a Rossi in .44/.45/.454 and in stainless. She who watches over me has taken an interest in my gun expenditures ;) !

But I am excited to see so many new lever guns, a new Winchester .22, a new S&W .44 with room to grow and several new Rossi offerings. I guess Marlin SBLs selling for as much as $4,000 has gotten some interest.

Does look like a Marlin clone, cross bolt safety included. Yuck. But those can be "fixed". Not a bad thing, the clone-thing, they have done "okay" cloning the Winchester 92. My R92 functions perfectly, I know some don't.

If the Ruger/Marlins are indeed going for $4000, then $1000 is quite a "discount". (or even if they are going for $2000, that's half price)
