Picked up a Charles Daly 1911 lower off an auction site for $150 because I wanted to put my Colt .22 conversion unit on it and create a complete pistol. I like the straight mainspring housing and milled trigger look of the Gold Cup, so that's why I wanted the Daly lower since this gun has these features.

The unit slipped right on after just a hint of fitting at the front of the frame (there was a small ding there from maybe being dropped) and the only thing I don't like is the stainless safety lever that came on the lower. Will change that ASAP.

Headed to the range today and the thing worked like a champ. In fact, it worked better than it has on any Colt frame I've tried. I never was able to make the slide lock (after last shot) work on a Colt frame but it works just fine on the Daly.

But I don't know what to call it. Is it a Caly or a Dolt?

"Dolt" is a great term of endearment, especially if the gun keeps performing well :D

For some reason after reading the thread this far, the D'Oh! popped into my head. :uhoh:
