I don't like snakes

In high school I worked at a reptile-centric pet store for several years. The store had all sorts of stuff, from Rhinoceros Iguanas to Anacondas to Caiman to rat-eating South African Burrowing Bullfrogs to super rare Geckos and Madagascan boa constrictors selling for a thousand bucks each.

Lots of memories working there.

No snake guns in my larder, though. Someday I will rectify that issue.

Stay safe.

Never occurred to me to like or dislike a name. It's just what they're called.

I will say I think "Combat Masterpiece" is the best gun name ever, followed closely by Colt's "Peacemaker."
Agree. Names don't bother me; I just care about reliability. Yet, I prefer those two -- as well as "Trooper" -- over the reptilian ones.
To wit, people's dislike of snakes is well documented from Time immemorial.

Python, Diamondback, Viper, Anaconda, Cobra, King Cobra

Never liked snakes and always thought it was dumb for
Colt to name its revolvers after deadly snakes.

Are their owners supposed to be deadly to anyone.

Dumb marketing ploy.

Doesn't mean I dislike the guns. Actually do like some of them.
Once I saw a ballistic chart of values for certain cartridges and loads through various guns. I think it was the Python that was POOR compared to all other test platforms. It was surprising considering the legendary popularity of the model.

I never understood the snake names for revolvers.
Back in the 80’s I had a friend that got me into Bullseye shooting. We used 1911s, but there were a few police officers that shot with revolvers. One day I commented on why Colt used snake names for their guns. One of the officers, who loved razzing his fellow officers about their Smith & Wessons, said “Because when you draw your Colt you can strike fast and strike hard!” Of course that elicited groans from all the guys,

Besides two 1911s I used to own the only Colt I own now is a Detective Special. That’s not a snake gun…unless I am using it on a poisonous snake. ;)

You don't like them, but don't dislike them? Do you own any?

I just figured out why I like Colt revolvers. In my youth, I collected snakes every summer. Kept 'em in numerous aquariums in my bedroom (kept my mom and sisters out of my room). At any given time (until I got heavy into sports in high school), I might've had two, three, four or five pet snakes, garter snakes, green snakes, king snakes, gopher snakes, pine snakes, copper bellies, corn snakes... Every week I was at my local pet shop buying up crickets and baby mice to feed the snake of the week.

Now all my snakes are blue or stainless steel. Love 'em.

This Smith is name Cartwright
Ah, must have been owned by Chad Cartwright, Ben's grandson, Little Joe's youngest son...
