in my wallet. Has anyone else noticed that this stuff adds up quick? I bought an XD-40 Service this week and quickly discovered why so many people harp on the need for a good holster and belt. My Bersa was light enough that a cheap holster and a normal belt worked fine. Those days are over. After doing a bunch of research, I decided that I wanted to get something better than Galco, but couldn't afford Rosen. I ended up settling on FIST for a belt, mag pouch and #12 Basic holster all in dark brown. I also picked up a CrossBreed SuperTuck IWB. Now I just have to wait a month for the FIST stuff and two months for the CrossBreed. All of this added up to more than $200.

Holsters handled, I headed out to the range, where I shot through over $40 worth of 180gr FMJ in about an hour getting used to the gun and determining which ammo worked best for me (I like Remington UMC). I clearly have to go back and get more practice this weekend to tighten up my groups at ten yards.

While I was shooting on the low-roofed line in the early evening, I found that I was having trouble seeing the white dots on my sights. There is little doubt that I "need" to get some good night sights to improve visibility. I'd also like to pick up a laser/tac light unit for night-time home defense.

Its really amazing how quickly a $543 gun can become a $1200 investment.

I had a nice chat with Springer Precision today. I'm going to have to wait a short while, but I think I'm going to send in my XD-40 for a trigger job, factory cleanup (fluff and buff), feed-ramp polish and Trijicon sights. From what I've read, the results should be well worth the money. Of course, this does turn a $543 gun into an $853 gun. What the hell! Its only money.

I hear ya on how quickly the money adds up. I just ordered a Smith & Wesson M&P 340 this week and got a great deal on it at just over $600 when it's all said and done. Add in 100 rounds of Speer Gold Dot ammo ($98), gun belt from the Beltman ($65), Canute holster from Ugly Bald Guy ($73), and some practice range ammo ($40), and I'm up to $876.

I don't even bother TRYING to keep track.

There's 2 types of money:
Gun money, and Everything else. (Which is frequently tapped for more gun money)

In the last 6 months I've spent over $9,000 on 13 guns not including holsters scopes, slings, extra magazines, bags and cleaning equipment and $3,000+ on ammo.

And here I thought $4k in 10 months including ammo and accessories was a lot. Ouch.
