Stuck at home ill, watching Live and Let Die. The PPK has its usual starring role, but I totally forgot James went full Dirty Harry during Solitaire’s rescue.

(Forgive the lousy picture, late afternoon glare on the TV.)

Nickel plated 6.5” S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum.

In one of the later John Gardner-authored books he packs a Redhawk .44 in his SAAB, I think this was his first go-round with Elmer’s baby.

Oh, for once in a movie the hero shot fewer shots than the gun holds, I only counted five fired with the Smith before he got in the machete duel.

Any other Bond nuts look out for the odd guns he uses?

Stay safe.

I don't look for much in the movies. The internal logic is far too screwy and James Bond - according to one of the Ian Fleming novels, Bond would have been mandatorily retired from the "OO" status in the 1970s at the outside. (I don't remember exactly and I'm too lazy to look it up.)

I did see "Man with the Golden Gun". I had previously read the Ian Fleming novel of the same name. Mr. Scaramanga's handgun was described most fully as a gold-plated Colt Peacemaker in .45 Colt. In seeing the movie prop I was almost ill.

Some how I've never seen any of the movies,
WHHAAAATT?!

Seventy five Our Fathers and one hundred Hail Mary’s! Get thee to a streaming service lest you be smote from this plane! This is not some game, your earnesty in manhood and your ManCard itself is on the line!

:D

I like the part that Bond gets his 25ACP taken away for a real man stopper… the 32 Auto!

Ah, memories of N64 playing Goldeneye. I've not thought about the "Golden Gun" in over 20 years, that game ruled, especially 4 player. When you saw the Golden Gun bouncing up and down in one of the split screens coming toward your general area, I swear your heart would race as if you were actually being stalked and about to get gunned down..... lol. Nostalgia

But the American CIA swear by it...

I remember in one of the more recent ones, Walther paid for product placement for a P99 for Bond. The bad guy emptied a snail drum from a Glock 18.

Then of course in Skyfall there were ancient doubles and IEDs.

Edited to add this list of guns from novels and movies: https://jamesbond.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_firearms

Just rewatched living daylights with Dalton. Opening part featured what looked like a S&W Squeezer which was very odd. Odder still was seeing Russia stuck in Afghanistan with the mujahedeen as "good" guys

don't really know how I've never seen them, I played the n64 game a lot as a kid and always liked Sean Connery lol. Guess it's not a Genre I like much, never seen mission impossible movie, or the Bourne ones. I watch a lot of movies to. Someday I'll sit down and start from the beginning with 007.

Hits like a brick according to Col Bothroyd.

Shaken not stirred with a Beretta .25 auto as used by James Bond. Grips removed for increased concealibility. Grip safety taped down with friction tape so that if wounded the piece could be fired. The loaded chamber indicator sharpened so Mr Bond's finger would feel that it was loaded after a few Martinis. This Beretta was made in the year Dr No was written. Q took it away because he thought it was a ladies gun and lacked stopping power. He replaced it with the Walther PPK in 32 caliber.

Heres a shot of Bond with an M10 (?)-

As I recall, the only place I saw Bond with a Model 10 S&W was in "Die Another Day", where the only sidearm he had was loaned to him by the "Secret Service" agent in Havana. However, that was Brosnan and the photo features Moore.
Hmm. I do remember the nickel plated M29 (I think) in "Live and Let Die" shooting the 'incarnation' of Baron Samedi - I think. I cannot place the movie for this picture of Moore with the obvious S&W revolver. I think I remember incidents where our hero simply picked up a sidearm and used what was at hand.

However, in true Hollywood fashion, the movies just presumed a firearm was a firearm and no viewer would spot the difference. Like the FN 1910 in the scene with Professor Dent in "Dr. No".

In the fight scene in the Gypsy camp in “From Russia with Love”, I think he was still using the small Beretta.

None of the later Bond films appeal to me as much as the ones with Connery.

He is still using the Beretta in the novel. He had not yet been ordered to switch pistols. Gotta admit, after a bit I really wondered about the utility of firing a .25 ACP in such manner.
I think the movies were released in different chronological order.

Me neither. Nor did any of the movies appeal to me like the Ian Fleming novels.

I will admit I bought one of the Smith PPKs in .380 because I figured if .32 was good, it would be better. Nastiest little kicker … and the mag always dropped out. The books are better than the movies, but the movies are a separate thing for sure. I have a feeling the .25 was treasured because it was so so small. It was a different time.
