The gun shop by my house got robbed late last summer. The dip*****s that did it broke through the glass door, smashed the glass counter top and grabbed a bunch of handguns. They threw them into a pillow case and ran. Because they're stupid (like most criminals) they were caught in short order and all but two of the guns were recovered (they're in the St. Croix river waiting for the thaw).

Anyway, these guys have finally been sentenced so the shop got the guns back. All of them were discounted, some more than others depending on the damage. One of them was a 637 with the "Carry Combo" pack (a really big case and an Uncle Mike's plastic holster). It has a nick and a few light scratches on the cylinder and 1/8" ding on the edge of the frame by the barrel. S&W MSRP is $577, the gun shop's price was $454, I got it for $270!!!!! :D I couldn't care less about the "damage" as I'll either use it as a car gun or, since my wife has taken a liking to it, let her have it and use her Taurus 905 as a car gun instead. I'm debating whether or not to send the cylinder off to be rechambered to 9mm like my S&W 360, I probably will just because all of my other carry guns are 9mm's.

I took it out back when I got home and put 5 rounds of WWB 125gr HP +P through it. It works perfect, puts them where you point it and has a pretty decent trigger, so I'm happy. For comparisons sake (and since I was carrying it) I shot the 360 right after to compare the recoil and muzzle blast. The +P .38's were stout in the 637 but the Federal 115gr +P+ loads that I had in the 360 were pretty harsh by comparison. Not unmanageable or painful and nothing like .357's out of my friend's M&P340 but you could really tell the difference. Of course the 360 weighs a couple of ounces less than the 637 so that doesn't help.

Here's some pics of the gun and a couple of close ups showing the dings.
