Not sure where to put it, so please help. I had a stroke last week. I'm young, it was minor. They are predicting a full, but slow recovery. I am getting along with a walker right now and getting stronger every day.

So I'll keep reading but typing is just a little beyond my capability right now (this has taken 15 minutes). THR and GLOCKTALK forums have been important to me and I just wanted to let y'all know! If ya know me, gimme a semper fi, and know that I will keep kicking therapy's ass (with my good leg) LOL.

Cheers!
Dan

Here's to a complete recovery.

Now, follow doctors orders, ya hear. Typing, while slow and frustrating now, will only help your dexterity return sooner.

What Walkalong suggested. Keep working at things and by building small blocks, larger ones can be made. The president of one of the Civil War round tables had a stroke and it took him months to learn how to do things again, but he did make a recovery.

Dan, keep up the good fight, brother. You're already ahead of the game by interacting with us and looking forward instead of backward. Always remember you are not alone in this world, and let those around you support you when your days get long and your willpower wanes.

Just your posting alone is inspiring. Keep your head up. We're behind you all the way!

Keep your spirits up! And keep working with the therapists. I've been where you are and it seems like a long road back. But it is great when you recover and get back to doing the things that you want, and you will, it just takes some time.

All the best!

If you're like any of the other Marines I've met, y'all are some indestructible people.

Semper fi.

PS: Tapatalk on your phone with Voice to Text capabilities (Android default keyboard, iPhone...?) will help a great deal in perusing the interwebs.

I had a stroke in late January, myself, and I am still recovering. You have my sympathy as I know what you are going through. Keep up with your physical and occupational therapy. Recovery may be slow, but it does happen. I wish you the best.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. Take care of yourself and keep us posted. We'll be here.

Here's to a full, and complete recovery.

Now, hear this: You will do this! You will not give up! You will recover! You will not look back!

There's only the future.

Semper Fi!

Here's to a fast and full recovery . . . you can't keep a Marine down:

To keep this gun related. Not to down play the seriousness of your condition but this is a chance to turn lemon into lemonade.

A little over a year and half ago I had rotator cuff surgery on the strong side of body so I could not shoot with that arm for about three months. So rather than give up shooting I practiced shooting one handed with my weak hand and arm. He gave me a chance to work on a much neglected self-defense skill. (p.s. The Ruger SR9c is very easy to shoot weak handed).

On October 23rd I had double heart by-pass surgery so when I started shooting again it has been with middle bore handguns with reduced power reloads. This weekend is the first time I am going to shoot centerfire high power rifles.

As said do what your medical condition will allow but don’t be afraid of shooting smaller caliber handguns and working on skills such as one hand and weak hand shooting.
