I may be taking my 1300 hunting next month, but its a short barreled defender. I know that there are aftermarket barrels availible, but I remember hearing that the 1200 or 1400 series barrels were interchangable...does anybody know about this?

1400 barrel MIGHT fit, don't know, same locking lug type action. But, it has a gas port, don't think that'd bother anything. Not sure if it'd fit, though, because the magazine ends in two rounds and there is a gas piston in front of it, very different and perhaps shorter or longer than the 1300 magazine, don't know.

Let me offer an alternative....

The discontinuation of the 1300 by Winchester has led to drastic cuts on new remaining 1300's still in the stores. You may be able to find a new 1300 to your liking for only about 1/3 more dollars than just a barrel! I have seen new 1300's still on the shelves for as little as $229. Then you would have one of each setup.

Either way I hope you find what you are looking for.

Milkmaster you are so right about that...I cant believe that replacement barrels cost about what a complete gun costs.
Funds are a little tight right now, and Ive still got to pay for textbooks for school and my hunting license by the end of the month...I was hopinig I could save a few bucks by just getting a barrel, the action has been slicked up by me already and Id be comfortable using it.
