I know, asked a 1000 times... does LC9s make sense vs G26 ?

I think the choice is largely a case of personal preference. I think Kittie (quoted below) pointed to a much more important aspect of gun carry than the choice of the particular gun.

Kittie wrote:

If you are not going to take it to the range and shoot it regularly, you should not carry it. When poo hits the fan, 90% of your actions will be muscle memory and training.

I don't know about the 9s but I can tell you for sure the Shield is easier to carry than my 26 was. Since the 9s is close to shield size it should be the same, considering the ability to conceal is in thickness. Among the other double stacks I've tried and ditched p229, M&P9c, PT145...all just too thick for me, I can conceal a p220 or CZ75 easier.

I have found the additional thickness of the G2 is almost tolerable and it makes a fine CC firearm.

I like the 26 more now than ever. I have a 19 that I keep a 20 round mag in, at night, Ghost extension. But lately when I am out of the house, I take the 26 along with my pocket gun, "a PM9", I don't need to dress up for anything anymore, so I wear a belt under my tee shirt, just for the holster. It works out better than jeans and a belted holster.
I wear a pair of Nike sweat pants and the belt instead, it has been working out well, and if my back is really bothering me, I can always take the belt off and put the gun either in the console, or in one of those holsters "I forgot the name of" that goes under your pants with the Velcro.
The PM9 is usually what I carry in the house, it's really weightless, for about 5-6 years now. If someone is going to break in, you won't have time to go looking for a gun. Been there.

I recommend the Smith and Wesson Shield 9mm over the Ruger LC9. Their size and weight is practically the same and both have a external safety. The LC9 has a mag disconnect which is a disadvantage to some people. I believe you only get 1 magazine for the LC9, and 2 mags for the Shield.

Both can be pocket carried without a holster if you choose, with the thumb safety engaged.

There's really little difference between the LC9S and G26.

My first advice, based on your comments, is buy pants that fit you instead of squeezing yourself into those 32" waist pants. Cheaper than buying another gun. If you want another gun buy it but I don't think it's going to solve your perceived problem

The LC9S is only about 1/4" slimmer and 1/2" shorter in lenght than the G26. The 26 is a little bit shorter in height but weighs approximately 5 oz more. The plus side to the extra width and weight is the G26 will probably recoil less giver you greater control and speed in your shooting. The extra size of the 26 also gets you 3 more rounds.

You complain the G26 is too bulky and heavy. The numbers show its not that much bigger. The weight difference is also negligible. I don't think a LC9S will solve your problem. Bigger pants probably will. Wearing a 34 waist does not make you fat.

I've carried a G26 for about 20 years.
I think it depends on part on how you intend to carry. I love the G26 but I wanted a pocket gun. I know some people who pocket carry their G26 but for me the LC9 is right at the limit of pocket-ability. For me even that extra 1/4 or 1/2 inch is the difference between being able to pocket carry or not

If I was only going to be IWB carrying I'd definitely go with the Glock but for me the Ruger fits my needs better.

I have the 26 and the Kel-tec PF9. I actually switched to lighter grain ammo and believe it or not it makes a world of difference. That and better fitting belts make the PF9 sit in the safe.

I found myself in the same position and never carried the glock 26 I owned so I ended up selling it for a glock 19(for home defense). I carried the Glock 19 awhile and hated carrying it as I am 5'6 and 150 lbs. I bought a S and W Shield and I love that little gun. It carries sooooooo much better than the glock 26 just due to the difference in width. I also changed holsters to a N82 standard(elastic) and that also made a world of difference. I can carry the gun all day and forget I have it on and I don't feel undergunned for any situation as long as I carry a spare mag in my pocket(and it comes with a spare mag).
