I am looking to build a lightweight slick side tuber but I want a dust cover on a flattop upper.
Basic idea
Ace skeleton stock
any lower, but a slick side with newer take-down pins would be great
Rifle length free float tube fore-end
one of the following;
1, 18" SS mid length barrel, low profile gas block under free float tube
2, 16" pencil barrel
3, 14.5" with pinned comp M-4
Not sure what comp/flash hider
slick side/no forward assist w/ dust cover flat top upper

Probably in 5.56 wylde

BIG Question
Does anyone make a flat-top slick side upper with a dust cover?

You can buy stripped 9mm uppers from several manufacturers, but they wont have the cloverleaf shaped hole for the gas tube. Adco can drill a round one for you.

Another thing to consider is the relief in the upper for the cam pin - as a 9mm upper doesn't have a rotating bolt, it may not be machined to clear the cam pin. My 9mm RRA upper is several years old, and my 9mm M1S upper is a few years old, but both are machined accordingly.

Sun Devil makes a billet upper that's slick with a ejection port cover. They are a bulkier than a forged upper, but I like the looks of them.

Fulton Armory has a slick upper without an ejection port cover.
