By the way, nice pic.

In defense of the "Please remove sunglasses" sign:

The "Please remove sunglasses sign" makes some sense, unlike a "no guns" sign. What it does is allow attention to be raised that someone may have bad intentions if they keep their sunglasses on inside the building. It doesn't say "No sunglasses permitted," just "Please remove..." If the tellers had been paying attention the way you were, the guy not following the rule would have raised attention and the sign/rule would have filled its purpose. In fact, it gave you another piece of evidence to affirm your "feeling."

"No guns" doesn't work because of the obvious good guy disarmament, but also because a bad guy ignoring the sign will proably have it concealed anyway and it does nothing to sort out the good guys from the bad guys.

I'm not saying everyone who wear sunglasses indoors has bad intent. But asking that they be removed indoors is not an intrusion on rights. If the bank want to post "No CCW" (meaning open carry only), I'm OK with that. But "No Guns" = No Business.

One of my banks has a no hat, hoody, sunglasses sign up. I rarely remove my hat when entering. Sunglasses would be a little bigger sign to me though.

BTW get use to my humor I ll be around for a while
Somehow...I don't think so. Call me crazy.

DM had the feeling, DM did good. Ignore that feeling at your own peril. Not everyone who pays attention is a paranoid rambo.

Well the sunglasses rule would be interesting for me because my prescription glasses are the kind that turn dark out in the sun, and take a little while to clear up after coming inside ... :p

Agree that the sweatshirt guy acted suspicious. And if some of you all will read the original post, it seems that the ambient weather was actually too COLD for wearing only a sweatshirt for a coat.

And as far as CCW in a bank ... how come it is that some states (like CA IIRC) say that the only good reason to be issued a permit is if you carry large amounts of cash, and where else are you going to be carrrying the cash to ...?

I GOT MY JD FROM UNC
OH ALSO IM A STATE CERTIFIED LEO
AND I UNDERSTAND THE PATRIOT ACT

You forgot mall ninja.

Yah for Kobun (petty good translation)

Now I speak an write in more than one Lang. let see you do that.

You will see minor problems with my gramma and so on but hey its no big the later in my night I responed to these post the more problems you might see.

Now to Uncle toms Cafe oh never mind the posters from texas 600 miles of wasted space are you an uncle tom? Are ya boy. Now this insensitivity proves I have been there. I kidding I love texas women and high point beer.
:neener:

To Mr Bowman good points in you post. :) very well stated

You see the original post is weak in determining PC. And as an officer I can say we don't want a citizens involved unless the so called guy in the hood, pulls a gun and even then I would say no.

My advice is if you want to carry do it off duty, get training then we can talk about your feelings

otherwise you should focus on what the possible suspect look like. Hight weight, shoe color, facial hair, If the person was paying attention he would have these details. ok so DM something spoked you. Thats fine but knowing what your observing is a whole nother skill. Adjusting your gun as a knee jerk reaction causes problems.
If you were trully concerned you should call the police

Secondly. Your lucky no one in the bank saw the adjustmint. You could have just made your self the prime suspect. It seem so funny that people think a CCW permit some how protects them from prosicution. next you tell me you have a legal right to privicy

dude, i am like, so much more ninja than the rest of you, its not even funny. i wear my homemade patch on all my shirts/jackets that says
"Lycaensaid Sickureitee Propheshuhnal".
that way, even if the thugs only speak ebonics, they will know i am their worst nightmare.

"Now I speak an write in more than one Lang. let see you do that."

Maybe you could add English to the list some day.

This is too funny. I think your mom is calling you for dinner, 赤悪魔.

- Gabe :)

He didn't adjust his gun, he unbottoned his shirt. He didn't show his firearm and even if he did adjust it underneath his shirt, I am guessing the squirrels at the bank wouldn't notice that before they noticed the guy acting strange in the lobby. I adjust my pistol all the time from the outside of my pants and no one has a clue what I am doing.

I think you did everything just fine. I probably would have called the cops myself, but it doesn't really matter because you went home safe and the bank didn't get robbed. Everything else is just splitting hairs.

Yes carrying a concealed weapon does wonders for your situational awareness in all public areas. I like it that way.

No bets

No chances and absolutely no patience.
My ignore list has shrunken slightly by people redeeming themeselves and humane. Ebonics JD by UNC just growed it again.

And as an officer I can say we don't want a citizens involved unless the so called guy in the hood, pulls a gun and even then I would say no.
As a citizen I could really care less what you want and I suspect DM doesn't either. If a BG pulls a gun near me, my life is potentially in danger and I will make the decision on whether or not I need to respond with a firearm or let the show run its course. Also, I would say that you don't speak for all (or probably very many) LEOs, assuming you in fact are a LEO, which at this point I very much doubt.

Moderator Note

Okay, folks, that's enough piling on.

Back to the actual topic of the thread, please.

DM,

Kudos to your behavior and "Feeling."

FWIW, In a training several years ago, I once heard the best definition of "The Feeling" or "Sixth Sense;" It is your sub-conscious mind interpreting data and information that is in conflict with the snapshot your conscious mind just took. Once you identify the conflict you begin to consciously search for the disparity you immediately begin to problem solve. The whole process can take less than 1 second.

In social situations, crowds, public, I always give good eye contact and nod my head in polite acknowledgement to those making my radar squelch.

Glad it all appeared to work out. Maybe the women you spoke with will be more dialed in to customers entering their business (for a while anyway?).

Double Maduro, if you don't mind answering, what bank was it?

I'd like to know, because it will now go on my list of places to avoid... Any bank with tellers that clueless doesn't deserve my business. :cuss:

Good job, by the way!!!
