I recently purchased a 2015 Chevy Sliverado. The front seats are the "bench" seats with the arm rest that flips up to create a third seat up front. The bottom of this "seat" is a lockable storage compartment. See photos below. I want to be able to securely store a pistol in there so I have easy access to it when needed. I'm thinking a kydex base plate with four straps running completely around the seat bottom/compartment lid (two in each direction) set up in such a way that I can quickly and easily attach the actual "holster" to the baseplate. I may need more than one "holster" to accommodate more than one gun but the baseplate will always stay attached.

I've search and search the internet for something ready made that will work but so far anything out there uses up the entire compartment like with the drop in pistol vault options. I don't want to loose all that storage space.

Any custom holster makers interested? Once you get this setup right you can market it to others since nothing out there resembles this.

looks like you can use any standard holster that has open rivets....then simply run some self tapping screws through the rivets into the seat bottom.

I've applied a good bit of pressure against the carpeted underside of that "seat bottom" and it isn't flat. It has support ridges laid out in a pattern I can't quite visualize so screws are a no go. The padding and fabric and carpeting appear to be sewn/glued in place so removing them, getting the mounting holes laid out right and reassembling and making it look new and factory installed isn't an option either.

Trust me, I've had the truck 30 days now, spent a lot of time looking this situation over, and the strap mounts are the only idea I've come up with that works.

I was considering mounting one of Liberty Safe's wedge shaped pistol vaults forward of the seat on the transmission hump but the only way to accomplish that is by drilling into the floor pan of a brand new truck and using sheet metal screws to bolt it down or bolt down a mounting plate. There's just no room to get your hand between the top of the transmission and the floor pan where you would need them to be to put a nut on a machine screw, if I was willing to blindly drill holes in the floor pan. Drilling holes in the floor pan of a brand new truck, especially without knowing for certain what is underneath when that drill pops through is a no go for me. It's straps or nothing.

Molle thigh rig? Or just buy some 1.5 or 2" webbing and buckle ran through a cheap Uncle Mike's nylon holster. Or a better holster as your budget allows. Just spit balling here.

I'd order a cheap Fobus paddle holster and screw through the paddle. I know you say screws are a no go, but that's what I'd do and have done before. It doesn't really matter if it's flat or not, the paddle is fairly flexible.

I have screwed them under steering wheels, inside glove compartments, under seats on the floor, over head and upside down in closets, under desks, and I'd bet a pay check I could put one under that seat with a few self taping screws.
