I need info on Remington 581 .22 rifle bolt assembly

Long time ago I misplaced the bolt for my circa 1974 -75 Model 581. I got one off of EBay that looks like it should fit but doesn’t . This bolt definitely looks to fit though it goes in almost fully yet won’t quite close as though the bolt is too long by a few thousandths. I’ve taken the bolt fully down and it’s fine, the extractors seat well ( I’ve tried it with them removed as well).
I get the impression that there may have been subtle changes along the years of production 1967-1981 but have no way of knowing how old the his bolt is. Does anyone have any direct experience with this gun / issue. Thanks

It is a 2 piece bolt assy what part isn't lining up for you

Sounds like a headspace issue to me. The headspace was set to the original bolt.
