I need quick feedback!

Okay, I'm going to buy a knife tonight online. I'm between the SOG Seal Pup or the Colt Commander Boot Knife. With the colt, I like the fact that you can attach it to your boot and thatit has a cool little shoulder rig, too (I would still carry it on my belt, but I just like the fact that you can carry it other ways). But I know that the SOG is better quality, has a better sheath (Kydex), and has a partially serrated edge. I do not care about the price difference, either way I have enough money. Please give me your opinions, quickly.

I've used the SOG SEAL. It has a comfy grip and it is very useable. The Colt is made of low quality steel, whereas the SOG is made from AUS-6. I would buy the SOG all the way!

Another vote for SOG.

The odd thing is, the Colt's 440C steel is inherently better than the SOG's AUS6, BUT the SOG steel performs better because SOG's heat-treat on AUS6 and 440A (two related steels) is first rate.

SOG is using the "cheaper" high-chrome steel not because it's cheap, but because it's very rust-resistant and they wanted "marine grade" corrosion resistance. So they do a very proper job on the heat treat, and it makes up for the "lesser" steel.

Myerchin is the same way, and at least as of several years ago Al Mar was doing exceptional AUS6, that was before Al died, dunno about current.

The Colt on the other hand is just cheap.

Note that the SOG won't be double-edge until you sharpen the back edge . It'll take a while, but the "false edge" is close enough to done that it's do-able.

But then again, you don't need double-edge in this blade length class. I'm very serious about that. Double-edge will just attract cops like flies to a turd .

I have a Colt tanto blade fixed blade. Not real thrilled with it and it's collecting dust. The SOG is the better. You can't go wrong with a SOG.

The SOG is a good-quality knife. I've never been impressed with any knife Colt put its name on (remember, Colt has absolutely no role in the design or making of these knives--just the naming.)

CW, you should never make fast decisions, but of the two choices the SOG would be my pick.

it's not a fast decision, I just wanted to order it last night (which i never got around to) because my grandpa (who enjoys a fine knife) is visiting and I will want to show him the new knife.

Folks, Colt and S&W firearms companies have no relationship to the knife companies other than to have liscenced their names to United Cutlery and Taylor Cutlery, respectively. The same goes for Ruger/Paragon. On the other hand, Browning and Berreta do have the knives bearing their names made for them.

If I was going to spend money on a $40 knife I'd go with a CRKT for the price or one of the KaBar or Camillus knives. If I were to spend the money on a SOG I'd go with one of their more innovative designs instead of a dagger. Something like the Revolver or the Duo.

Okay, I'm going to get the SOG on Friday from a local knife shop. Their price is higher ($74.95, which is MSRP) but Its only like $7 more than the internet if you count shipping, and I like doing business with local stores. If anyone can tell me more of their thoughts on the SOG M37 Seal Pup, I would appreciate it.
