Im reloading some 7mm rem mag 140g barnes mrx bullets with imr4350 powder. I was wondering if anyone could scan a page of the barnes book for me. I tried looking at there site but has no data for the imr4350. Thank You

That's becuase is waaaaaaaaay down the list of powders that are suitable for that cartridge/bullet combo.
I suggest in rough order.....
Alliant Reloder-25
Accurate 3100
IMR 7828
Vihtavuori N165

Ramshot Magnum (Big Boy)

Hodgdon H4831

Really the reason why I bought it in the first place is because it was marked for the best accuracy for my caliber in my lymans manual.
On the Barnes web site they recomend retumbo

Which Lyman manual are you using?
Why not use the Lyman data like suggested above? If Lyman is telling you that load is possibly most accurate it's at least worth a try.
My favorite powder for the 30-06 is 4350 but IMO it's on the fast side for the 7mm Mag. Actually, the old classic 7mm Mag powder is IMR4831 and it's much better than 4350 for that application. With all the new slow powders out there I'm sure you can find something that will be outstanding in your rifle.

You will have to adjust for the particular rifle anyway, and now you have two datapoints (Lyman & Hodgdon/IMR) to test from.

My Lyman manual is at least 6 years old. I dont have it in front of me(dont remember edition). I usually like using the loat data for the bullet manufacture im using. I used the imr4350 with the following bullets 160g 7mmRM, 140g 308win, 180g 30-06, 250g 338WM, with good results. If theres a better powder for the 7Mag im not opossed to using it; in fact i would use it. This is the first im hearing of the imr4350 not being so great. The Barnes book liked the retumbo, what do you guys think about that powder?

Retumbos gonna be too slow. Dont expect high velocity. Id give imr4831 a go.

I agree, IMO your best overall powder for the 7mm Rem Mag is probably IMR4831 or H4831/H4831SC. Looking for something a little newer try Winchester Supreme 780. Some reloaders like RL-22 but I know nothing about the Alliant rifle powder line. There's another fairly new powder out there, H1000 that's supposed to work well in the 7mm Rem Mag but again, I have no first hand information on it.
I still think H4831/H4831SC is your best choice even more than the IMR version because the Hodgdon version is just a little slower.

You should check out www.hodgdon.com and www.alliantpowder.com, who have the newest data list for their powders. IMR4350 is probably not the best choice, but is a viable choice.
If you use the listed start load for a lead core bullet, it should be safe with your Barnes bullet, but keep the maximum load a couple grains under the listed maximum for the lead core. Barnes bullets seem to produce higher pressures than lead core of the same weight, and requires lower powder charges and may give a bit lower velocity.
Slower burning powders like Rel-22, IMR7828 and IMR/H4831 may give you the best results.

I've been loading 7 mag. with RL22 with excellent results. Steer clear of the faster burning powders. They don't provide the velocity and accuracy that the 7mm RM is so well known for. A 140 gr. Barns with RL22 will get you between 3200 fps and 3300 fps without having to teeder on the edge of high pressures. I'm using the Barnes 120 gr. TTSX this year with 74.0 grs. RL22, and it has been chronographing at an average of 3420 fps. and still holding a 1/2" MOA @ 100 yds.. A couple of days ago I made up some 130 gr. Speer BT and they are super tight grouping and in the 3350 fps average with 71.3 grains of RL22. That is a worked up load and is above published data by 1.3 grs.
The 7 mag is an amazing cartridge and offers such a wonderful range of high performance options. In this respect, slower burning powder's will deliver the best accuracy and highest velcoity obtainable. I just tried Retumbo powder in my 7 rm with barnes 150 ttsx and loved it best powder for my gun so far

I started with IMR4350 back in the 70's. It still produces 1 ragged hole at 100yrds with Seria 160gr MatchKing. I never have shot any bullets lighter than 160 through my Rem 700 7mm Mag.
