I can use some help today in settling a competition.

This morning a debate started in our family by my 12 year old son asking who was the best 22 rifle shot in the family. It started as a family friendly conversation with everyone claiming to be number one, Queen of the 22, Master of Precision, or as my son put it nothing can stop him when he is on the range. According to him he becomes the Zen Master over all the elements, rifle, scope, ammunition and the wind. Fortunately his comment would push mom over the edge and she screams downstairs boys pick out your favorite 22, Dad let’s pack up and head to the range and settle this score once and for all. It is always a fantastic day when you and the family can settle a score and have a great day of family competition on range.

I have posted pictures of the targets here.

For those that have read my website know that I have no advertisements and get no benefit from anyone visiting as it is just my way of sharing or giving back to the community. I was not intending to post anything, but my wife and son insisted and said we should let the readers decide. If you would leave a comment letting us know what you think as I am sure my son would get a kick out of it.

FANTASTIC write up!.... a great learning experience for the kid and wife. You are indeed a good guy by "teaching" him how to adjust parallax for success. Oh those young eyes, they'll getcha every time!

Oh common Bearhands so what are you saying LOL.

I think you have to add up all the targets of the day.

Sounds like a fun day at the range with the family on a beautiful day. No one loses!

As far as who the best shooter is, I'm not sticking my nose into family affairs. Ya'll need to settle that yourselves (and they need to learn to pick the best rifle/ammo combo for competitions).

Zenmaster's technique in the photo is unsteady as he has nothing underneath the buttstock to help keep him rock steady. Better 2 points of solid contact than 1, even if it's a big 1. He also looks uncomfortable and off balanced.

I think you know what I'm sayin'! LOL Plus.... when I shoot with my sons, I usually tear-up during the competition and am forced to conceed. ;) Btw, we usually shoot iron sights @ 20 and 70 yrds.... there's no mistaking who has the youngest eyes! LOL

Rule No 1. The wife is always right.
Rule No. 2. ..... if unsure, refer to Rule No 1.

I enjoyed the day at the range site. You are very lucky to have that quality family fun.

The kid is #1 followed by Mom. PERIOD end of discussion............unless you really want to alienate them from shooting again later. ;)

Surly you are good enough to "pull" a couple rounds to keep the competition close....

I used to do that with my daughter all the time, right up till she started getting a tad big for her britches and then I beat her, by a small margin, just enough to keep her humble.........oh and before ya'll start in on me thinking I am "that good" I have been soundly beaten by my peers waaaay more than I have won, and in fact I learn more when I get smoked than when I do manage a win against better shooters

LocoGringo yes he is uncomfortable -- but I was cheating if I tried to help him LOL. Everyone was so excited to be out at the range after a long cold winter fundamentals were out the window. Hopefully with a refresher for him and a better rest and position he will continue to get better.

Roger that. Figured if he read the thread, he might believe it better coming from a complete stranger on the internet than dad ;).

I'm not getting involved in any guesswork here but they sell calipers that measure groups you know. If you "really" want to know do that. Or just use the computer program, 'OnTarget". It's available for a trial on the net.

BTW I didn't have to worry about pulling rounds when I was shooting against my kids. Now my wife is about to pass me shooting the Buck Mark. I'm going to stop teaching them how to shoot. ;)
