I have been involved in a scam through an Armslist transaction and am in the process of chasing down the scammer. Armslist won't respond other than to state it will only give out info to Law Officials. The Attorney general I'm dealing with is asking for the address of Armslist and I can't locate it. After doing a lot of research on Armslist, I'm amazed that ANY Attorney General in the country doesn't have their address listed right at the top of the page. Has any member dealt with Arms list and had to get the address of their corporate headquarters? In the age of cell-phones there is another roadblock in chasing down deadbeats too! kody

That is typical of any type of auction or advertisement hosting agency. eBay/Paypal and Craigslist have the same policies. While a pain to work around when you are the one who got shafted, those policies are in place for a good reason.

Sorry about your troubles and I hope you get things resolved, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting.

I operate under the assumption that every Armslist or Craigslist transaction that doesn't happen in person is a scam. These sorts of threads would be practically nonexistant if everyone did the same.

Good luck with that. The guys that run Armslist maintain a very low profile since the site comes under criticism from a lot of an anti-gun proponents.

However, they do also have a forum that I just recently discovered. There is a "scam" sub-forum that they claim is monitored and also a contact link where one can submit a message to the admins.

I have no idea how much response you will get, but it might be a start.

Not sure what happened but they do tell you not to send money to people. Armslist should only be used locally where you can meet someone look over the goods and then buy if you want to.

The Attorney general I'm dealing with is asking for the address of Armslist and I can't locate it.

The AG has the resources of his own jurisdictions law enforcement agencies detectives and can reach out to the FBI in the event that there's any suspicion of a transaction across state lines and also to the Post Office's Inspectors (who are armed LEO's) in the event that you used the mail system for any of the transaction.

These professionals are in a far better position to research this than you, and frankly... you're not the one who should be doing the detective work in this case (because that's exactly what it is) when there are paid detectives who represent the state with far better resources than you. Perhaps gently pointing this out might be in order.

Keep in mind that the AG in California couldn't be bothered tracking down Ben Cannon, and he stole in the high 6 to low 7 figures. They could look him up in the phone book.

The guys on Armslist won't know anything more about a seller than what they told you.
