I really shouldnt have taken that appart (maverick 88)

Does anyone have a diagram of the trigger group of the Mossberg 88? I took mine apart to clean it and quickly realized i shouldn't have done that, i think the first clue was when springs shot across my desk:banghead:

So if anyone can give me some tips on how to put this thing back together that would be really helpful.

And as long as i have this thing in pieces...is there any way to bypass the disconnecter? (yes, i know its a safety feature and *shouldnt* be bypassed, i just want to know if it can be removed)

Ouch. Shoulda asked about that here first, before you took it to bits. Somebody would have told you not to do it (along with somebody else who'd say they do it every other day and it doesn't hurt anything).

Old saying: "Too soon old, too late smart." Don't worry, you sure aren't the first to NASA parts across a room, and you won't be the last.

Find a cigar box to put the parts in, or at least all the parts you can find- and a gunsmith to take it to... won't be anything new for the 'smith, but it should be the last time anything like that happens to you. Most everyone does it at least once if they get started young enough, the smart ones either never do it again- or become gunsmiths 8^).

Components like fire control assemblies in shotguns are best left as the factory built them as a general rule, if they need cleaning that can be accomplished by immersion in hot water with dish soap or degreaser (Simple Green works well) and a careful application of 'canned' or compressed air, then proper relubrication. And if they need repair, that's mostly best left to a professional.

Altering the design of components to try and induce actions the gun wasn't designed to do is a bad, bad plan- and likely won't work as you intended anyway. I suggest you abandon the idea forthwith. If you want a gun that slam-fires, get an Ithaca Model 37, a Winchester Model 97 or 12, a Stevens 520/620 etc. that was built without a disconnector to start with. Slam-firing a shotgun is over-rated anyway.

After looking at the disconnecter bar more closely it looks like it serves more than one function, so i don't think it would work anyway.

I was hoping to avoid taking all the parts to a smith, Im pretty sure that if i just had a picture to go by i could put it all back together myself.

Did you try the online schematics at Brownell's? Did you check Mossberg's site?

check for parts diagram at gunpart corp web sight also search the make and model some one usually has posted pic af the parts on the net I had a local kid bring me his marlin mod 60 with the hammer assem. in a baggy he was almost in tears. He said when he took the last e-clip off it exploded. It took some research and studying but I did get it back together

When you took it too far apart, you gathered up all the pieces you could find, placed them in a brown paper bag, and took them to your local gunsmith.

Never mind HOW I know...I just know...Foggy said, being $20 poorer in his {somewhat} mis-spent youth

Same with most shotgun fire control groups.

Maybe one of your "Shooting Budds" also has a Maverick or Mossberg 500, and you can compare a complete fire group to your ahhhhh sack-o-parts.

If I can get my persnickety digi-cam to work tonight, I'll pull the trigger group out my Maverick 88 and post it or e-mail it to you tomorrow.

Pic 4 is with the hammer in "fired" position.

These are sort of quick-n-dirty pix..I propped up the trigger with stuff on hand in my computer desk...Not sure if there is enough close-up detail to help, but that is as close as my digi-cam gets.

Did you get your trigger group back together yet?

Pictures aren't going to help you very much. Take it to a smith as mentioned above. The 88's FCG as atleast 2 "blind" pins if memory serves. Save yourself the trouble. Most smiths I've had the discussion with (no I have never disassembled my FCG) keep a couple spare FCG hanging around, and charge the cost of parts and 30% on top as labor. That says something.

I have purchased Maverick 88 12 GA,but cartridge interceptor is missing and It is impossible to find it in my country (Croatia-Europe).Does anyone can send me a few pics of this part,and I also have a problem with trigger group-hammer cannot be locked in shoot position.I guess that something is missing in trigger group too,but I'm not sure what?
I will be gratefull if anyone can send me a contacts where I can find a spare parts for Maverick 88.
