At a local box store I saw a Henry Big Boy X in 44 magnum on the shelf for $820. I didn't have the cash but I did have the credit card. That rifle felt heavy but it had the 17" barrel and hi viz sights front and rear. I told myself I really don't need that rifle since I have a Big Boy 45 LC at home in the safe. I don't think that X model will do anything my Henry can't do except get wetter, I guess. And look tacticool ( which I'm really not about).
But I showed great restraint.
I guess that's step 1.
(sigh)

Yea, a couple months ago I saw a Henry rifle with nice wood furniture, side loading gate, in .44 magnum, and didn't buy it then. A week later I decided to buy it so went back .... it was gone!!! :( "You snooze you lose!:uhoh:"

I suppose another will come along. And yea, I too like the wood; this black plastic on lever guns??? What would Chuck Connors and John Wayne say??? ---- forget that what would John Wayne DO???

When I see something that piques my interest, my only restraint is do I get airline miles, hotel points or Costco cash for the purchase…

Stay safe.

Well to throw in my two cents about not really in the need..
I have four lever 357 rifles in the safe, three Miroku Winchesters and a Rossi. I am a walnut and blue fan. Not a tactical fan at this point
But the first Henry rifle is on its way, an all weather 357 side gate. It may be my first nudge towards tactical, as it’s getting a picatinny, red dot and a paracord sling.
Not sure if “The Duke” would approve
Love lever guns, you can’t have too many!

$820 is best price I’ve heard of so far. $899 was least I’ve seen in person. I know at one point that they were going $1000-1100 on gunbroker. That price you saw would be hard to turn down.

I saw a 38/357 & a 44 mag for $899 the other day. That's a bit high around here. They also had a Ruger Mini-14 Tactical Stainless for $1399.99 so yeah, that's some high prices.
