In Austin, TX the Post Offices have metal detectors as CHL is state-legal but not allowed on Federal Property. A few times I have seen them beep as a customer gets in line but I have not seen a search or anything like that. Blockbuster videos and library books may set off the beepers. I get the impression that the PO workers themselves have figgered out that if someone goes berserk then the beeps will do nothing for deterrance.

Still, do not CCW on federal property unless authorized by the Federal Code.
