It seems to me that now that UTAH allows non-resident permits, with all their reciprocity they have been the most popular state to get a permit in. I have a road trip planned coming up in a year or so, and it's going to take me through many of the states in the union, so it sure would be nice to carry through as many as possible.

There have been threads before as to what is the best combination of state permits to get to have the most carryable territory with the least paperwork before. That is not what this thread is about.

I'm curious how many of you folks out there know of specific programs or services that your local ranges, gun clubs, or firearms instructors have that specifically cater to getting permits of other states such as Utah. I did a little searching online and found some in CA, but not WA. Are they fairly commonplace countrywide, or just some here or there?

And as a sidenote, if anyone knows where to go to get satisfactory training for the Utah CCW permit in the puget sound area in WA, could you maybe perhaps send me a PM?

Well, that short and concise answer should not have warranted it's own thread. I didn't realize there was already a list compiled. Sorry about that.

In any case, thanks for the resource!

One thing you need to consider is Utah makes most of its revenue through tourism. And I applied for my UT CCW, I'm adding to UT's revenue.

Also...God bless UT!!! Great pro-gun state!

One caution about Colorado. It no longer recognizes non-resident permits from other states. Offhand, I don't know if it recognizes your resident permit from Washington state. You'll have to check that yourself.

You may thank our nibbling-away-at-gun-rights-a-little-bit-at-a-time-so-as-you-won't-notice-it-but-we-don't-like-guns-which-are-inherently-evil-and-icky-things current Legislature.

Oh, and our goobernator who signed the Bill.

As organized in a different thread we held a class that was well attended and well done with a local licensed Utah instructor. I am more than happy to contact the instructor on your behalf and put you in contact to find out about upcoming opportunities. One thing that I want to make very clear that was discussed in class about the Utah License is that although it "opens" up a lot of states you still need to be familiar with those states ccw regulations.

For example, some states require that you be a resident of the issuing state for your permit to be valid.

I was typing while the above poster covered my topic!

The state of Colorado no longer recognizes the validity of any permit issued by any state to a nonresident of that state (see CRS 18-12-213 amended 2007).

This information is also available to Colorado law enforcement through the CCIC.
