I think I 'broke' my Single-Six

I decided to completely disasemble my new Single-Six (as I do with all my new guns) and I think I 'ruined' a part while putting it back together.

I don't want to say how I did this because I feel stupid enough already. But I semi-ruined the pawl spring plunger. The spring is compressed and deformed. I installed it anyway...the revolver works 90%...

Before I took it apart, the revolver would 'click' when the gate was open and the cylinder was rotated clockwise. Now it spins completely free.

Is this because of the compressed/deformed spring?

When I open the gate, the cylinder locker thingie under the cylinder retracts (is that supposed to happen?). When I spin the cylinder clockwise, there is no resistance or sound (it used to click before I fudged it up). If I try to turn it counter-clockwise, it won't go (which is normal, right?)

Does this mean my pawl isn't getting enough pressure from that spring I messed up?

If you must no, I messed up the spring/plunger by insterting it into a SCREW HOLE instead of its own hole. I then proceeded to screw a screw into that, buggering it up.

Trust me, you're not the first one to do that. The replacement spring and plunger are available from Brownells or direct from Ruger. Assuming you have a New Model Single Six, Brownell's price is $1.81 (stock # 780-012-104) for Blue and $2.19 (stock # 780-012-105) for Stainless for the " Pawl Plunger & Spring Assembly".
