From realtor.com, for colorado springs, it seems to have about half the square footage of a traditional home of that price. Before utilities, before reinforced construction, and about twice the acres.
Doesn't seem to be a bad initial offer for a unique type house.
That's about average for Northern Va. In a few more years, even townhomes are going to be pushing 400k and maybe even 500k. Quite a few are over $300k now.
Find that outdoor propane tank and that place can be flattened. Even better if one can locate the below ground on and leave a crater where the hobbit house once was buried.
I'm with Daniel Flory on this one. Never been much of one for living in a hole in the ground.
Although, I've been known for rather strange tastes, especially in architecture (a house-plan I've been working on off-and-on for the last four years has three sub-basements and numerous secret passageways)...
