I think I just heard somebody lose a gunfight....

My girlfriend used to live in Aberdeen, MD, just down the road from the proving grounds, hearing "gunshots" constantly, from whatever the army was testing, sometimes it was down right entertaining, various chain or gattling guns cutting loose for a minute or so at a time, and the occasional earth shaking BOOM from artillery or bombs that knocked stuff of my shelves all the time. Sometimes in the winter they would test stuff when it started to get dark and looked like orange lightning in the distance., now in Westminster when you hear gunshots it nomally means the deer lost.

When I stay at my girlfriend's college in Baltimore (near north ave), gunshots can be heard probably every other night. Add to that the fact that in Maryland, CCW is about as likely as a national-level pro gun Democrat, and it becomes clear that simply prohibiting carry does nothing to discourage criminals. [who would have thought?!]

It can be a little disconcerting, but, well... that's Baltimore for you.

I used to live in a nice neighborhood where some low income housing had literally been built right behind my backyard. One night I'm in the den and I hear a loud "pop! pop! pop!" I literally hit the deck. A few minutes later I hear sirens in the background.

+ For the Mossberg

Definitely time to delineate the attributes of a shotgun as an excellent home defense weapon. Don’t forget to discuss collateral damage and how proper shotgun loads can help prevent it. Also, be sure to dwell on its capability and the advantages of a tactical light. Got to go for both to come out with one for sure. No choice at this point you’ll just have to get the Mossberg. Hey this works, just a couple weeks ago I got the nod on a Remington 870 Police Magnum. Still looking for the light. Good Luck

On a serious side we’ve also heard the same exchange of gunfire in the wee hours. Nothing quite ruins a night quite as well. This was followed up by Police choppers flying low with big lights going up and down all the streets in the neighbor hood for what seemed like an eternity. This is when the glowing three dots on the Novak’s give one a very warm fuzzy feeling.

When my wife and I first got married, we lived in a "bad" part of town, that bordered on a "really bad" part. Hearing gunshots was an everynight thing. We bairly paid any attention to them.

Unless it was full auto. :what:
