So on the thread can you save a bore that has been wasted from corrosive ammo,I told you about this Venezuelan Mauser that a seller said had a bad bore.

Well I took a chance and bought it (for a real good deal).I don't know what he was talking about, when I got it it was a little dirty but not that bad and I just did a normal cleaning and the bore is mirror bright with excellent rifling.:D

Here are pics,I tried to get a good photo of the bore but not enough light so the pics don't show how shiny it is but I think this may be a real accurate rifle when I get it to the range.

Supposedly its a Venezuelan 24/30t target rifle in 7x57.Bolt serial matches the gun also.

WOW-What a fantastic looking rifle; it looks nearly as good as the day it left the factory. And the wood; simply beautiful. Even if the bore was questionable, there's no way I would have walked away from a rifle that nicely preserved. Congratulations on a great aquisition.

Awww, too bad.

The witness marks on the front sight don't line up. Somebody ruined the gun. I'll give you $50 for it 'cuz I'm a nice guy.
:neener:

If thats what corrosive ammo does to your bore, I'm gonna run some through ALL my milsurps and let 'em sit!:D

Bore sure looks fine to me, and the rest looks just great.I think you scored big.

My guess is that, if it was a target rifle, it may only have been shot with non-corrosive match ammo. Anyone know about milspec 7mm mauser ammo?

If it was shot with corrosive ammo, it certainly was not allowed to just sit afterwards. If it was left dirty, the last outing must have been with good, clean ammo.

Nice score Lionking :D.
I have been looking for one for little over a year now, and the few that I have ran into have been sporterized or abused.

From what I understand, a good batch of them with many which had matching numbers were brought to the states in the mid 60's by Century Arms.

Take good care of her and like many have said previously. Give me a ring if ever decide you part from her.

Max

thanks madmax for bringing this up again.I have fired it and it is a smooth and rather accurate rifle.

I am in love with South American contract mausers,Argentines are awesome also.I watched a rare Venezuelan carbine on gunbroker and I came sooooo close to bidding on it but for a change I actually restrained myself, which that is rare :p:cool:

this rifle is definately considered my "best deal" I ever found.

Wooooww. I LOOVE Mausers, how much did you pay for that guy? I assume since he said it had a bad bore you stole it from the poor guy. Gorgeous rifle man.
