I Think I Want a Tru-Glo Scope

I got to visit a friend today. He, myself, my daughter, his neighbor & his neighbors wife all took turns shooting. I got to shoot some really nice guns & use some really nice optics. 2 or 3 of the AR-s there were outfitted with Tru-Glo 1-6x24 scopes. While inexpensive these scopes have interchangeable turret caps to make elevation adjustments for .223 or .308 out to 1000 yards. They also have illuminated reticles & only cost $159. Unfortunately the way my AR-15 is sat up I don't think it would scope well.(it is a M-forgery with that A2 style pinned front sight). Later on I may have to get another upper & one of these scopes.

Up front ill admit to being negatively biased. Ive never seen a Tru-glo scope I wanted...and none of the ones ive messed with were from the same line as the 1-6s.
If your happy with them tho, and they hold together well enough (the ones ive seen seemed to actually do fine in the reliability department) then its hard to say they are bad buys.

I would offer a couple low cost alternatives that I HAVE used and liked in terms of glass (again your eyes maybe different, and you may find my opinion completely wrong, so take it with a grain of salt)
and adjustments.
these are 1-4s instead of 1-6s so again if the extra power is desired not what your looking for.

Unfortunately the way my AR-15 is sat up I don't think it would scope well.(it is a M-forgery with that A2 style pinned front sight). Later on I may have to get another upper & one of these scopes.

My AR and my son’s AR have the same front sight and it was no issue at all scoping them.

I have a Tru-glo Tac 6-24 on one of my Ar-15's. It is actually very comparable to my Strike Eagle except for eye relief. The Strike Eagle has about the most forgiving eye relief of any other scope I own. I don't know if I would trust the Tru-glo on a larger calibre gun, but it has performed fine on my Ar in 5.56. For the money is has been a solid scope, I don't regret buying it.

My buddy has one mounted on the .308 AR-10 he just built. It seems to be fine so far.

His friend that was shooting with us let me shoot his .308 & .223 SCAR's. Those wore ACOGs though. Very nice but too pricey for me.

we have a cheap truglo red dot on an sks. it's been there for 15 years of abuse and it's still kicking.

I have a Truglo red dot on my AK pistol.
Had held up very well. ( Aimpoint clone )
Have a Truglo 1-6x24 on one of my rifles in 300BO and it works well.

I have the 1-6X on my AR and am very happy with it. I had it out Thursday and was ringing steel at 200 yards with it.

Had a tru-glo red dot on a springer air rifle as a kid. Held zero well. No experience with their actual scopes.

While I have no experience with that particular scope, I did have an inexpensive Tru-Glo red dot on an SKS for a number of years.

It finally died, called the company, returned it, and they replaced it for free with an updated model.

So, only good things to say about their customer service.
