.....a Springfield G.I. I think. I can't help it; I've done a lot of looking at different brands and models, both at pics on the internet, and in person at various gunshops around town. There's just something about this gun. The one I've seen is a 5" parkerized, and I've looked at it, and at the Loaded a few times. I've shot the 5" Loaded, and liked it. But for some reason, the GI just appeals to me.

So, please feel free to either confirm my choice, or point out things that I might not know. (reasons not to get one) FWIW, I don't intend on using it as a platform for further modifications. I just want a .45, a good one, that I can learn on and enjoy.

For those of you more knowledgeable than I, would it be correct to assume that the GI would shoot similarly to the Loaded?

Thanks.
CJ

I haven't shot one of these, but the one I handled at a local gun dealers seemed like a good gun.
I liked the look of it too.

I'm not a big fan of SA products, but as an entry level 45acp on the 1911 pattern I feel they are a decent buy. I find my Rock Island 1911 clone to be decent too though and not have the dumb integral lock of the Springfield.

I appreciate your replies; I guess I answered my own question yesterday afternoon when I went over and made the final comparison "handling". I looked at the parkerized GI, the parkerized Loaded with night sights, and a stainless Loaded with target sights (not night sights). After having a very good presentation of the differences by one of the workers, and handling all of them, I went with the parkerized Loaded.

Just got back from the firing range, where 150 rounds went through just fine. I really like this gun and am looking forward to many more trips to the range. I really appreciate this forum, as I used the "search" feature many evenings and found a lot of good information about this and several others I was curious about. Thanks everybody.
