What started out as something I would do occasionally has now turned into something that I could do over and over every day of the week.

I wanted to reload to save money - yeah - throw that one out the window! Am I saving money?? Probably - but who is counting. I do scrounge brass, find deals on powder, bullets and brass, but I shoot more. I have way too much powder :D. My 'man-room' is needing an overhaul. I'm running out of room for my stuff. My wife thinks I'm insane. :neener: I reload rifle, handgun and shotshell. Just bought 100lbs of lead shot. Do I need it? Not really - but I paid half of what it retails for - so why not.

What's sad - I watched Hamburger Hill the other day and while the story line was interesting - I just saw all that brass lying on the ground and wanted to reach into the TV and pick it up and tumble it :what:

I love to tinker with stuff and think of better ways to make things work - hence the need to reload and shoot. I complain that my range doesn't open up until 9am on the weekends - it gets hot in Utah around 9am - why can't they open up at the crack of dawn??? The range only goes out to 100 yards - but that'll work for now.

At least I know I'm not alone - there are other freaks out there like me - and I'm guessing there are some on this board and probably reading this post right now :D:D

I haven't even started casting lead yet, but already I find myself picking up wheel weights whenever I see one. I especially like the really long ones that come off big trucks :).

At the indoor range I shovel up as much unwanted brass as I can, in fact that's pretty much the only reason I even go to the indoor range is to collect what others consider garbage! You'll know you are beyond all hope when you buy a gun based solely on the fact that you already have a bunch of once-fired brass in that caliber.

Yep, you've got the symptoms and I don't think a second diagnosis will change the outcome. My friend, co-worker, shooting buddy finally diagnosed my addiction. He said that, "I must have been ammunition deprived as a child". Looking back I can now see that was the case. I was always asking Dad for a box of .22's as I was always out. Having to conserve that last few shotgun shells. Anyway reloading has enabled me to amass a certain amount of ammuniton that should in reality never let me run low again, BUT I can't stop!!! I keep inventory on loaded ammo, primers, bullets, powder. I either feel the need for more of a certain powder or get the dreads when certain bullets run low. Another shooting friend says I only shoot to have something to load? If you find any relief from your addiction let some of us know your treatment! Yes Halo, I have bought a couple of guns because of having brass in that caliber.

I feel your pain as I have it bad as well. I had three presses and then last month for some unknown reason I went and purchased another. Not just any press mind you I went all out and got a Dillon super 1050. What the hell was I thinking- but now that I have it I had to feed it... 5k 223 rounds later and I am realizing there is no way on Gods green earth I am going to ever shot as fast as I now load-- sweet :)

hahahahhahahaha your addicted. wait to you learn about casting. then your really in trouble. i cast bullets for everything i shoot. except shotgun. im even buying ankle weights at yardsales to get the shot

Really? I thought those things were full of sand... learn something new everyday. I guess sand wouldn't really add too much weight.

You should try the Lee slug mold that you can load in standard trap shot wads.

Welcome to the club.

"My name is jeepmor, and I'm a reloading addict."

THR cronies "Hi, jeepmor, what's your story."

I'm guilty as charged. I look forward to working matches at the club so I can pick up around 1,500 to 2,500 brass cases after the match. I think they need to outlaw the damn aluminum cases. I'll be working the GSSF match the first weekend in August and that always brings a lot of brass. One of the guys at the club calls us grazers because we look like cattle out grazing. I guess that sounds better than brass whore.:D

There's GOT to be a halfway house for addicted reloaders around here somewhere!!! The hardest part of all this is being on my hands and knees scrounging brass and bump my head into another one scrounging brass...Yes...You are not alone...I attest to being a reloading addict and a "Brass Rat"...

I've searched through tall grass and weeds trying to find some of my elusive cases, I mean sometimes 10 minutes or more just to find 2 or 3 cases. If you think about it, going to that much trouble just for a couple of cases is pretty dumb, yet even knowing this I will be sure to give a repeat performance next time I go shooting. Isn't that the definition of addiction? When you know something is bad but you continue to do it anyway? :D

When you start reloading rifle brass and have to trim it, I think your ardor will cool a little.

Then buy a Giraud trimmer and the magic will come back.

Wait till you take some friends shooting just so you can get their brass. Keeping a tarp in the car helps too.

My cousin went shooting today and he knew I'd be at his house...needless to say I came home with 300 pieces of brass :) 45acp, 40 and 9mm. The last two I don't shoot - but have a good collection of brass for those calibers.

Plus - was at the range today and walked around hoping to score some brass, but alas, everyone is reloading :( Seems that the outdoor ranges are crowded with reloaders, yet the indoor ranges by me are full of those who shoot and dump.
