A little while ago, I was at Sportsman's Warehouse with my parents and my 15 year old brother. He wanted to look at a P99, so he went up to the counter and started drooling. It wasn't busy for once, and he wasn't getting any attention paid to him, so I stood next to him and somebody came up to me pretty quickly. It should be understood that I look quite a bit older than I am (20).
"Can I show you something?"
I said, "He wants to look at a P99, if he may."
He got it down, opened the action, and juuuuust about handed it to him. Almost as an afterthought, he said, "How old are you?"
He said, "I'm fifteen."
The guy says, "You can't see it, then," and lays it on the counter. "It's the law."
It pissed my brother off pretty bad. I handled the gun for a second anyway before handing it back, but that didn't help my brother any.
All the way home, all my brother could talk about was, "I can't believe how stupid gun laws are," and "what would it hurt to let a kid look at a gun?" and other similar things.
Whether that's actually the law, I don't know. I sort of doubt it. Anybody know?
I think he's pretty firmly on our side.
