Ever get to the point where your like i want a new gun but not sure what to get, if anything at all?

Do I buy a new upland gun. Current one is a Stoeger Condor 20ga. Just looking for something lighter weight and more shells. But the current one does fit me well and I have never missed.

Do i buy an AR15. Never owned one and think it maybe fun to mess with.

Do i buy a nice 5 or 6” 357 or 44mag revolver? I could try my hand at hunting with it.

Do i buy a 6.5CM for driving an hour to two hours away to shoot long range.

How about a 1911 in 9mm.

Ah the heck with it I don’t need anymore guns…

Axis - while the AR might be "fun to mess with", it also depends on your location. So many states and/or municipalities are pushing some kind of gun-type or magazine ban, you need to keep your eyes on changing rules as well.
Hopefully, you aren't in IL where our "illustrious governor" J.B. Pritzker is forcing owners to "voluntarily register" their "assault weapons" (including Ruger 10/22s !!) by the end of December or become a felon automatically.

I collect S&W N frame revolvers chambered in 45 ACP. So, while I am always looking for the odd one to fill a hole in my collection, I really do not “need” a new firearm.

I do not own an AR of any kind, never got into them. Those 6.5 things you mentioned, I have no idea what it is. My 6.5 is a short barreled Swedish Mauser. I do have a couple of 1911s but they rarely go to my range. I just like my ACP revolvers.

So, my advice to you, buy anything that is not an N frame 45 ACP. (I am sure there is some kind of goofy little stamp that means I am almost kidding, so pretend I included it.)

If you decide on a shotgun this checks off all the boxes. Much lighter than what you have, holds 4+1 without the plug and is reasonably priced.

And everyone needs an AR.

Sometimes I have an urge for something specific but more often, the right gun just finds me.

I wanted a pump action 22 mag since I sold the super stiff Henry pump 22 mag. I didn’t want the Henry again and I wanted something to mount a scope easily. I was casually looking for several years and then bumped into a Winchester 275 at pawn while I was looking for something non-firearm related.

Kinda cheapy but is more or less exactly what I wanted. For $323 OTD I could have done a whole lot worse.

I was real darn close to picking up and 8” Dan Wesson 7445 the other day. Seems neat. Maybe I will go back for it.

For pure fun, I'd look at an AR-9, high quality .22 revolver such as a M17, M1 Carbine or Garand.

Although, I've had the biggest grin I can remember lately just plinking tin cans with my Grandaughters' Savage Rascal. They are SO cute, weigh almost nothing and are a steal for the money.

Or a 444 Marlin. I have had a real itch for one of these and I don't know why.

None of those are ever wrong decisions. 20 gauges are great. AR-15s are the iconic rifle of our era. A good 357 or 44 (or 41) magnum is a classic.

Set some prices for a good deal on each category and shop until you find one. Or you find you really need something else and get that.

If your wanting an AR 15 you could take note of my most recent build that I put together with a 16in 5.56 1-7 twist rifle gas system barrel and an A2 stock. Ridiculously smooth shooter. Even better with a suppressor.

As far as 1911s go, just get a 45 Auto, anything else is sacrilegious. Lol.

Now a good semi auto 20ga shotgun would be nice as well. Probably easy peasy to shoot all day! Like a CZ or something?

OP / AxisII:

Ate you in love with accessories and rifles which can accept a vast variety?

Or do you primarily (or onlyo_O) use iron sights?

My TV “war heros” (at age 8 in '63) such as Sgt. Saunders, Kirby, Little John etc had only basic guns. Those early impressions of “the coolest guns” never faded .

I haven't "needed" a gun for some time. But to paraphrase Michael Corleone, " I try, but theysuck me back in!" My LGS has 2right now that I am lusting over. A matching numbers Luger and a post Registered Magnum/ pre- Model 27 S&W. Trying my best to avoid the place.

H&I channel still aires 2 episodes of Combat on Saturday nights. I watch it most of the time.

I'm assuming they want a lot more for the Luger, but man they are fun shooters. Nothing wrong with a .357 N-frame either, of course, but there are lots of revolvers that do basically the same thing the same way.
Ain't nothing like a Luger!
