I want to use it hunting PA Whitetail and am wondering what would be a very good holster to carry this beast?
I was thinking a nice gun belt with loops and a cross draw 3/4 flap holster. Do you recommend a holster to be lined??? I will probably carry my 1894c also.

Winchester 180grain Partitiongold kills animals well hit in the up to 250lb range VERY effeciently. The long barrel on your gun is a real plus for this. I have used the load on 150 blacktail at 75yds from a Python Hunter with outstanding results, as good as a .44.! I am not saying a .357 will ever be as good as a .44 now guys, just that the .357 load mentioned works well on deer !

Do the 172 gr. bullets fit your gun? I thought that the length of M-27 cylinders were to short to handle them.

My wrong, and I've used a very similar load to yours for 25 years before switching to the win load, IT DOES KILL QUICKER! The old Kieth load was great, but not instant. The Bianchi cyclone, while not a 3/4 flap is cheap and available. Sarariland used to make a 3/4 flap lined with elk suede in a cross draw but discontinued it many years ago. I have had good luck finding odd ball holsters on e bay, I've found many a good vintage one. The suede lining was silicone trated to avoid blue wear, however get some dirt on any lining and it takes off the blueig. IMHO an unlined holster is better. I carry my Python hunter in an Old Bianchi X-15 shoulder holster , which would fit your gun , the long large model fits 8 3/8 model 29 ect. This is a pretty good hunting holster. My hunting partner carries his mod 29 8 3/8 in a bandellero chest holster from Bianchi and it has a flap, another good up and out of the way holster!;)

They fit in my 27-2, but with not a whisker to spare. They're right to the end of the cylinder.

Recommend a shoulder holster for the 8 3/8" long tom Smiths. Mine is Uncle Mike's black nylon. Works good and keeps it up out of the way of carrying things in your hands like your 94 and from snagging on brush, etc. YMMV BTW, Nice Gun! :D

I found a Bianchi X15 shoulder holster in the used holster box at a local gunstore a few months ago.
It fits my M657 with the eight and three eighths inch barrel perfectly.
You might look for one for your M27.

uncle mikes sidekick size #4...

keeps the weight of the gun on your shoulders while it can be covered under camo to protect the finish from the thick brush of the nky outback...
