My wife has had a rough couple weeks at work. We were both off today so I took her to her favorite breakfast restaurant. Across the street from the restaurant is a well known gun shop in the Phoenix area called Scottsdale Gun Club. After breakfast we stopped by there because I wanted to see what they had in 9mm 1911s. Im currently selling a Colt 1911 so it was just window shopping and maybe handle some models. The Springfield Operator felt REALLY nice.....

Then I saw the used handgun case. Im not sure what's going on but they had some really stupid good deals in there. A Sig P220 with an Inforce light for 399. Great deal but 400 bucks is a lot for something Im not looking for. A Keltec P32 for 75 bucks. I have no want for that gun, but for 75 bucks I could figure something out.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw a Springfield Armory GI 1911A1 model that looked unused. I handled it and there is very very slight signs of use. Small scratch "idiot mark" on the frame from the slide stop. Minor finish wear on the barrel from the slide. Then I saw the sticker. 199 dollars!!! I tell my wife "Im gonna spend 200 bucks because they have a ridiculous deal right now". She was fine with it. Afterwards she was really surprised that I bought a gun. She thought I was buying a part or accessory for that amount of money.

It was a deal I wasn't looking for, but couldn't walk away from.

I couldn’t have passed up that deal either . Why are you selling the Colt ?

Im not a 45 shooter..... says the guy that just bought a 45. But I have another nice 45 1911 and want a 9mm 1911. The Colt has actually been a great pistol. I just wish i had bought it in 9mm.

Being the cheap bast…hmm, make that “frugal person“ that I am, I’m drawn to bargain sale prices.

Not a 1911 person, but at that price I might have become one. Same for the Keltec.

Good luck with your new gun!

I don’t. Have nephews, that is.
I was just reading a thread about a super duper Gov’t Model but it was still a GM which does not fit a niche for me, whether $199 or $11199.
Too heavy to carry, not a good IDPA or USPSA gun; I don’t need (another) center fire plinker “range gun.”
