My fiance went down to south Georgia to visit her parents. She got back today and her dad had sent a rifle he never shoots. Its a 1964 Russian SKS made at the Tula plant. Its all matching numbers and has a reciever mounted scope, bayo, sling, extra rounds and a 30 round magazine. I guess I'll just have to add it to my collection!:D

1954 or 1964?

Cool9mm,

I'm wondering as well. If my information is correct, the last year the Tula Arsenal produced SKSs was in 1955, so you might want to take another peek at the date on the top cover.

I vote that you restore her back to original condition amd use the 30rd mag for another project. I kinda have a soft spot in my heart for the Russians. Now you can do whatever ya want to a chinese sks!:D

Good Shooting

The numbers on the stock, receiver and trigger group are: 4564. That's why I thought it was a '64. My Romanian's last two numbers are 59.
Does it have a laminated stock?
The stock is a deep reddish color and kinda shiny. Its got some knicks and stuff on it but I like it that way!

Yeah, I here you. But the original 10 round fixed magazine is gone along with the stock receiver.:(

It says on that site that large quantities of Russian SKS's were manufactured, for export, all the way untill the late 60's. It has the Tula marking on it: the star with the arrow in it. On the right side of the stock near the end is a funny symbol, its a big circle with a "T" in it and a small circle on the base of the "T".
