Need COL length for both.

I have 125 gr. new bullets.

New .357 brass

Once fired .38 special brass.

Unique...H110...2400 powder.

Small pistol standard and magnum primers both CCI and Winchester.

It's the Golden Saber bullets I'm interested in. The COL looks like they are about to fall out of the .38 special +P factory bullets I have.

Not looking for screamers just a good 600 series J frame snubby .357 rated. Bodyguard 38+P rated snubby and 686 4 inch general purpose factory approximation load.

Thanks...Bexar

H110 won't work.

2400 might work in a pinch at .38 Spl +P pressures, but Alliant doesn't show either powder in .38 Spl +P for a reason.

Have any Unique, AA #5, etc?

Your best performance with the GS bullets will be to match Remington's factory ammo. There are 2 different GS bullets in the .357 size. One is for .38 spl and has a larger deeper hollow point to open up at lower velocity and the other is for .357 mag and has a smaller HP opening and shallower hollow. Factory GS charts show a velocity of 1,220 fps and 975 fps for the .357 mag and .38 spl +P respectively. If you push a bullet designed and optimized for 1,220 fps to higher velocities you can get with H110 and 2400 the bullet performance is often poorer.

While H110 and 2400 are great magnum powders they're not acceptable for light bullets in the low pressure .38 spl even at +p pressure and really not the best for magnum loads with bullets under 140gr. Get yourself a faster burning powder in the medium burn rate like W231/hp38, Unique, AA5 and you will get better results with light bullets.

I load the GS bullets in the .38 spl behind 6.0 grs of Unique. Velocity chrono'd from a 4" revolver was 1,057 fps average. OAL must be short enough to not jam up the revolver when chambered. I just seat somewhere between the driving band and the bullet ogive. Roll crimp the case mouth so it contacts the bullet. (see picture below) For the .357 mag I'll use 8.6gr of Unique.

Awesome Steve...Thanks. I just looked at the box of Golden Saber 125 gr 38 spec.+P and compared it to the Midway blue box of Remington Golden Sabers 125 gr I also have. The factory loaded 38 special+P just have very shallow almost looks like nicks cut into the hollowpoint. The loose Midway bullets have that twisted tornado and longer cuts and an opening smaller at the hollow point than the 38+P bullets. Depth does appear to be shallower. So I have to go with the loose GS are possibly the .357 bullets. Unfortunately, the model and lot number of the loose bullets part of the packaging was obliterated on opening the Midway box.
