I'm not sure about the intersection of VR users and shooters on this forum, but if there are any, we could use your help! Range is HOT! is a VR Competition Shooting Sim coming soon to Steam Early Access. We've started with 3gun, as it gives us an opportunity to build several types of guns, but in the future we plan on adding as many disciplines as possible. IDPA, USPSA, Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, even F-Class is all under discussion with the testers and team. We're also planning a full course editor, so you can make and share courses with other players. Who knows? This might be a great testing tool for designing real world courses.

Check out the trailer!

We are currently beta testing the game, and would love some feedback from this community. We've gotten very useful input from Reddit users from /r/3gun and /r/CompetitionShooting, but you can never have too many testers. If you would like to join the beta (for free), send me a private message with your email address and which headset you'll be using, and I'll shoot you a beta key. Or you can simply join the feedback/discussions on our Official Discord, and we can help you get signed up from there.

Now, we know this game can't possibly make you a better shot, however, feedback so far has convinced us this could be a great tool for learning the rules of different disciplines as well as (hopefully) a great way to new people to the sport. Plus, we think it's tons of fun. You don't have to take our word for it, here's a early review, bugs and all from an early player.

We're a small team of 6 developers from Denver, CO and this team was bioengineered in a secret underground lab to not have feelings, so please, genuinely tell us what you think.

I'm not a gamer, wouldn't even know where to begin, but I could see it being fun.

Have been intrigued by VR but never enough to even look to see what a set up would cost. This game has the potential to push me over the edge. I was going to start dabbling in competitive shooting this year but with ammo as it is the just isn't going to happen. I really like the idea of having a way to learn the rules and flow before a match without a bunch of watching eyes. First off I'd like to see more gun options, even really crappy ones that most guys would never consider, but man would it be great to crush my buddy's time with a high point or something. Customizing guns will be a must if only sights. The ability to turn off the hovering "shoot me" arrows would be nice, after I learn the basics I'd like to run a course like in real life. Customizing the graphic on the hostage targets could be cool but not necessary. I didn't see it addressed but does your belt have unlimited mags of ammo? And can you adjust where on the belt the ammo and holster are located? Any options for left handed shooters?

Actually looks really cool. Yeah, this could be huge for you guys. It looks very well thought out.

I'd recommend adding arms though. Unless there's a reason they ain't there. I'm not into VR yet. My favorite game is F1 on Playstation. The viewpoint where I'm in the car, and the steering wheel and arms are on screen. Wish it worked for PS4 kinda. No desk top computer at this house.

No idea what hardware this stuff runs on, comes with.

And for your information. 3 gun, Uspsa, and IDPA are 1% accuracy and skill. Strategy on the fly, or completing a course properly, are at least 95% of the sport. So this program helps a lot.

Doesn't matter that a game doesn't improve our aim.......it doesn't have to. The actual shooting part of Uspsa is the easy part. Sport is actually more like a combination of tennis and chess.

I've been holding off getting into VR because of the lack of quality immersive games that VR really is for. But between the inability to find a Series X or PS5 on the shelfs, this game, and Half Life, I've finally thrown in the towel. This looks great and doesn't have the toy-like artifacts like many "sims" do. Can't wait to play it!
