You can have a gunsmith install a chamber adaptor-spacer-thingy, or rebarrel them, so you can use 7.62x39.

They're hellaciously accurate, eject to the left, and have more in common with a G-43 than a SKS.

That said, most got imported from Central America and have rotten bores and crap wood.

If you find a nice one, though, they're oh-so-sweet.

There is one for sale at my local gun store, its in 7.62 x 45mm. Not bad condition, and a very cool rifle. Its not mine! But if anyone is interested:

No, I don't have one. It was confiscated from some bad dudes, along with two AKs. Looking closer it says Vz 52/57 on the side, so I guess it's one of the 7.62x39 ones. It's in pretty sorry shape anyway, functional but certainly not a keeper (even if I could keep it).

I thought it looked like a wierd looking SKS until I took it apart and realized it really had nothing in common. I've never handled a G43 so I didn't know to make the comparison to that. The way the piston goes around the barrel is kind of cool.

No, the sniper in FMJ used a Czech Vz-58.

And that piston around the barrel means it doesn't rise hardly at all. Actually seems to lunge back down from the force of ejecting a shell.

The 52/57's are rare birds. It's a shame some baddie used it. Even in that shape it is a keeper. Is it going to be destroyed?

Is it going to be destroyed?

the bolt and mag were destroyed immediately, the rest of it will be destroyed eventually. It sucks. I can't explain how much I would like to keep some of the things we've found. Top of the list would probably be the 1919A6 my team leader found buried at the bottom of a dry well. It was rusty but could have been saved.

ARGGGHHH I have been looking for a VZ-52 stock for over a year and a half. And you have to destroy that perfectly good one.

Looks good. How much did you pay her you don't mind me asking?

I always wanted to play with one but don't really need one since I have 3 SKSs.
