The collared grizzly sow was shot numerous times with a small caliber firearm. The sows cub apparently starved. The shooter is banned from hunting in 48 states.

"In a plea deal, Jared Baum pleaded guilty to a felony and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years of probation. He also must pay $12,500 in fines, court costs and civil penalties, and was given a lifetime hunting ban, according to Idaho Fish and Game.

Since Idaho is a member of the Interstate Wildlife Violators Compact, the hunting bans in this case will be enforced in all 48 member states."

Wonder if he even had a hunting license previously?

You didn’t follow the rules, so now we have to ensure you can never follow the rules again…

What a fine they put in place, would have cost him more to go to on a legal hunt with an outfitter.

The grizzly hunts take place in limited and difficult to access areas of Alaska and Canada. No wonder they command premium prices. A grizzly hunt with a reputable and well-equipped outfitter will start at about $12,000 and run all the way to $20,000. Combine a grizzly hunt with a caribou or mountain sheep hunt for better overall value.

This is the part I found the most interesting.

In May, Fish and Game sent a warrant to Google to determine whose electronic devices were in the area at the time of the poaching and data showed a device belonging to Jared was in the area on March 16, according to the East Idaho News.

I heard a story about some geniuses around here that poached a bear with a collar. The story is that they killed it on their property (which flatlined the bear) and then the dead bear was tracked moving at a high rate of speed along a road leaving off the property, then it stopped moving somewhere off the road in the woods, still dead. FWC went to the property where the bear was last seen alive, and found matching DNA (blood and fur) to the carcass in the bed of a pickup that belonged to the property owner.

Yeah, we could probably find most missing persons if we sent warrants to Google for everyone in the vicinity the missing were last seen.

Detectives often do that. i'm familiar with a case where a girls murdered body was found. The police obtained a warrant and traced the perp following the girl and leaving the scene after the murder. Perp wanted to plea bargain and the prosecutor declined. Jury gave perp the death penalty.

BTW: There's a kid tracker

This is why everyone needs a tracking chip installed.
If your not doing anything wrong what difference would it make, right.

They know more about you then you know about yourself. With your cell phone they can track your every move and listen in at any time.

I bet there are people in Ukraine that are glad they don’t have one installed, despite never doing anything wrong.

I would sure make a lot more sense to make one part of parole/plea bargain conditions.

Along with the fine, he gets to spend 30 days in jail and now has a felony conviction. Can't legally possess a firearm either. Odds are he will be on the Idaho F&G watch list till the day he dies. His dad also paid a $1400 dollar fine and gets to spend 3 days in jail. He also is banned from hunting for 10 years. He too will probably be on the watch list. They also threw two $800 handguns into a pond to hide evidence. Doesn't help that all your friends and neighbors are watching your every move too. While he may still violate, it will be a lot tougher now.

Laws only stop the law abiding. He will be back at it in no time. A few county’s over. Maybe in another state. Hope not but my money is on he’s not done being a turd. Get caught again. Might slow him down.
