My wife wants to know what I want for Christmas and I don't know what to tell her. Holster? Optics? Ammo? Trigger for the AR?

I was wondering what y'all have asked for or received for Christmas. What was your favorite gun related Christmas gift ever? What was the worst mistake? ("Thanks honey, but when I said 'Tomcat' I meant Beretta...)

I'll tell the favorite story, because it's more fun. Christmas of 1994. I had just passed the Bar and been hired on as a Prosecuting Attorney. I had only two guns left, after selling off everything to pay expenses through law school, a six inch Smith 586 and a six inch Smith 422. Neither appropriate for carrying, which I could do on my badge. So, while watching football with my father and brother one weekend, I tell them I'm saving up for a concealable handgun. Anyways, Christmas comes along, and they hand me a small but heavy box. Open the wrapping, and it's a Smith blue box. Inside is a Smith 649. The next two boxes are an Uncle Mikes IWB holster, two speedloaders, and a box of +p Hydra-shoks. That was a great Christmas.

I don't have the room, or I'd be following Wedge's advice. I'm getting Mojo sights for the Mosin, and a competition hammer for the 10/22.

Ammo is always good, too. :)

I am getting the following from my wife for Christmas:

- XS Express Standard size "Big Dot" night sights for my P99
- Wind River spotting scope
- Accudot red dot optic for my 617
- Volquartson trigger for my Ruger Mark II
- LaRue mount for my EoTech 551

How do I know i'll be getting these? Because I ordered them myself. It takes the surprise out of the picture, but OTOH its nice knowing you will be geting exactly what you want.

As far your own list, KarlG, I would recommend a trigger for my AR. Personal recommendation is an Accuracy Speaks trigger. They are a bear to fit, but once the task is done, they are sweet.

I asked for a 21 year old blonde. :scrutiny:

I found some women have no sense of humor.
You'd think that after 25 years I'd learn to control my impulses.

Things I have gotten for presents from my wife over the years.

Hungarian SA-85M
Beeman R7
Swedish M38
A variety of magazines (the gun accessory kind and also the reading kind)
A variety of gun parts & accessories including bayonets, sights, etc.
A variety of ammo
A variety of holsters
Gunsmithing tools
Books (I have everything Capstick wrote, some of Cooper's stuff, some by Boddington, a couple of Taylor's books, one by Connors, etc.)

If you ask for ammo, make sure they know what you can and cant use. I once got a couple of boxes of .45LC for use in my Kimber...

Last year my wife got me trijicon sights for my Kahr MK9... Perfect. This year I just don't know?

I have been asked what a person wants ...or asked to find out over the years.

Books are always good.

Now I have lost my "Use Enough Gun" - by Ruark,( ironic ain't it? I collected all of Ruark) Signed Copy of UC [John Ross] and Col. Cooper's books.
Another one I have to get is Phil Sharpe's Reloading book . Some others I can't find as well.

Some books a person "just needs" in their Library. Enemies Foreign and Domestic, 1984, Animal Farm, Unintended Consequences, , Reloading books Kuhenhausen( sp?) books on firearms, Hallock's book on the .45, ...Any number of Books by Awerbuck ( another I need) and works by Tom Givens, Clint Smith, Gila Hays...etc.

Gift Certificates , or my favorite cash, for ammo, holsters, training, lessons, or gunsmithing needs .
