Where they tell me to go
Thinking about a small project, not sure how big I'll let it get.

What improvement/changes would you suggest?

I'm looking into the Wild West trigger if I don't have the trigger done elsewhere.
Have used Williams sites in the past but am leaning towards the Ashely Ghost ring this time.
Would like the pistol grip stock, but don't like the long barrel that is the only option for that stock. Can you put a pistol grip stock on the straight stock guns?
Do you think it's worth it to extend the tube to 6 rds and or cut the barrel down to 18in (both can be done together)?

Clements is pretty close to me now and does this type of work www.clementscustomguns.com/rifles/Default.htm
I think I would do the basic upgrade if I go with them, not sure I need a new barrel. $500 doesn't seem too bad. I love the Co-Pilot for WW but can't see that much money in a lever gun, just me. Also, doing it locally would be nice.

Any input would be appreciated,

get the pistol grip stock, cut the barrel down to your likes, have a 'smith cut the dovetail for your new front sight (tritium?), ghost ring rear, wwg trigger happy, and then stop.

knowing when to stop modifying a gun is at least as important as what mods are done.

Best thing to improve a .45-70 levergun?

Buy ammo. Use up. Repeat. BA/UU/R, as in become one with the gun.

I too don't think it needs any improvement, but the idea of a large winter loop lever for leverguns always intrigues me.

Guys,
Thanks for the input. I agree for the most part. Never shot one enough to know if it had any real weaknesses.

The large loop makes some sense (so long as it's not huge, I'm not a trick shooter).

Thanks,
