Identity of a Remington 700

Looking at buying a Remington 700 in 308 serial #E672xxxxx. Just looking to find out, if possible, the year made, model, and possible est. value. Anyone have any ideas? Rifle has a synthetic stock and is in very good condition. Thanks

areandare, I have a Remington Model 700 myself. I wanted to know pretty much the same thing you do, as well as a question about modifying the rifle from floorplate to a removable magazine. I went to their website and came up with this email address [email protected]. I sent them an email with all relevant details, serial number, all barrel markings, basic description of the stock and the visible features, such as the floorplate for unloading etc.

I sent the email on 26 Jan 07, and on 12 Feb, I recieved a reply answering all of my questions, including a detailed explanation of what all the barrel markings mean, year of production, what type of features it included out of the factory, and though Remington does not recommend the magazine modification, the rep gave me some manufacturers of that modification and where I could purchase them.

Pretty good customer service, and reliable information. I printed the email and put it under the foam in my rifle case.
