Is anyone aware of anywhere (preferably near Oregon :)) where a person can rent a gun for an IDPA or IPSC match? I really want to try that style of shooting out, but don't want to drop 500+ on a gun for something I may not even like.

If this is a stupid question, then I'm sorry :) I'm new to all this. Thanks!

Go to www.uspsa.org .

Find a local club, e-mail their head honcho and explain your situation, I'm willing to bet that someone would be willing to loan you a gun to shoot a first match, it's a std. offer of mine when I meet an interested newbie, and I maintain spare holsters for the occasion. Ask for a basic gun that would fit into Production or limited 10 class as shooting a 4K buck open gun will only make you jealous for what you cannot afford. Good starter guns if you decide to buy are Glock 17/21/24/34/35, Any number of basic 1911s from Springfield, Kimber, etc. Beretta 92 or any other full size pistol with readily available accessories is okay. Read the rules on Uspsa too to get an idea of them.
