I'm thinking about competing in an up coming IDPA event in my area. I’ve been at their site paging through the rule book and have two questions I can’t seem to find answers to. First, are Pierce extensions on a Glock 26 legal for use? Also, I’ve got a shadow 2 holster for my Sig220, if I decide to use it am I going to have to start with the thumbbrake snapped?

J.

Pierce extensions on a Glock 26 are legal for use. The extensions are on the mag, not the pistol. As long as it fits in "The Box" you are good to go.

from IDPA Rule book, Holster and Ammunition Carrier Rules,

ALL retention features of the holster MUST be used.

If the holster you use has a thumb break, then you will have to have it snapped at the beginning of each stage.

If this competition is a local event, in all likelihood you can forego the holster snaps. We allow 'illegal' guns in our matches and just classify them as 'other' ;-).

Unless you're shooting a regional or some other 'official' IDPA match, I wouldn't worry too much. Have fun!
