If Not My Favorite...........

An old cowboy ain't dressed unless he's got his hat on. That don't include inside a building unless it's a bar or a sale barn or such.

Ol hands cringe at seein' wannabe's eatin' in a restaurant with their danged hats on. My Momma taught me better.
I was taught that if you were under a ceiling, you removed your hat. Also, you were bareheaded during the anthem, and if a funeral procession went by. Heck, we used to pull over to give them room. Not done anymore, folks are too important to show respect.

My understanding is that an amendment to a recent defense spending appropriations bil specifically allows honorably discharged vets to remain covered and render the hand salute. I got that from a forwarded post from a group of retired LTCs and up that were quite happy with it. Not heard about it anywhere else.

I have done so a couple of times and not been harassed for it......and it feel right....... especially if I happen to be under arms.

It used to be that if you saw a service member under a roof and still covered that it indicated he was "under arms". Interestingly I had to explain that to a non combat arms Major once as to why I was still covered in the HQ Building while wearing a loaded 1911A1 in a holster on a web belt over dress greens one payday. He even had initially told my M-16A1 armed escort to remove his head gear. Made me wonder what he had been doing with that decade plus of active duty service........

This one was a civilian 1917 in .45ACP that was nipped to 4":

I've got a few more, but no decent pictures...

Right now I probably like the 4" 45ACP better, but I am getting ready to reload .45 Colt soon so things may change.
