If there were no Class 3 restrictions...

No more of those lame 16" barrels on the Thompson's and other SMG designs. It just don't look right to have such a long barrel on SMG's. The Thompson was meant to have a 10" barrel.

My first order would be a 1928A1 Thompsen SMG with the 50rd and 100rd drum magazines.

I would be collecting mostly submachine guns, I never saw much need for full auto capability in a rifle.

I'd have all the goodies, every gun that could be full auto would be, every gun that it was practical on would have a threaded barrel at least stashed away for it, and there'd be a few shorty shotgun barrels sitting around too.

That doesnt mean I'd use'em for home defense, the ones that worked out in training classes would be used for it, but I'd have them mostly just for the cool factor.

Well, sounds good...but

(A) I have a hard time feeding the ones I have now, and

(B) I'd just have more guns that I didn't use taking up space in the safe

Art sez a gun turns money into noise. You can go through $100 worth of ammo real quick. With a silenced full auto, it costs a lot more and you only get half the equation

If'n you wanna be a pretend bada** I suppose they're alright, but I've shot full auto. As above, most of us (me included) have a hard time getting one shot at a time on the target.....

Now, if deer charged at me hundreds or thousands at a time like enemy soldiers, I might change my mind. Guess I'm just getting soft in my old age.

Maybe I'd convert my 10/22 to select fire. I got to shoot one of those a couple years ago...and what a hoot that was!! But as far as centerfire goes, I can barely keep myself in ammo now.

Yes, I'd probably has a 10 or 12" barreled home defense shotgun (though that doesn't require class III, just a cheap tax stamp). I'd also have some suppressors for sure, particularly on .22s so I could shoot them around the house without disturbing the neighbors. And at least one select-fire - probably an HK MP5/10 (10mm), if available and affordable. No, other rifles would not be select-fire. Well, I'd also have an AK in select fire - that's cheap to convert and shoot. And yes, a suppressed AND select-fire .22 is very appealing, come to think of it. At least one suppressed .22 handgun and one suppressed 9x19 handgun too. Wow, this is gonna break me financially.

Ok, I'll play. I would definatly have a suppressor for my Marlin 795 LR, and an American 180 .22 submachine gun. Also, my Mini-14 would get a selector switch, folding stock, flash suppressor, bayonet lug, etc.

I want an MP7 as a backwoods self defence gun.

Just because.

Figure with it's penetration, on full auto it'll stop a po'd brown bear with just one magazine. Probably be pretty good if I'm ever in a sunfish and need to defend myself against a great white too.

Such a multipurpose weapon ;) . If I had that, maybe I wouldn't want a DRC takedown in 450 Marlin with a fiberglass stock. Since I'd probably never want to shoot a 450 Marlin enough to get good with it, given it's so loud, rounds are expensive, and it will have about 40 ft#'s of recoil in a light rifle.

Hmm, actually, I'd still want the DRC, just put a sleeve type suppressor on it. The kind that go back over the barrel. May cut a little of the noise and some of that kick.

Guess I'll also want a 14" suppressed 12 gauge pump. I know the suppressor won't do much, but it'll make it a little quieter and a little gentler. If suppressors weren't such a hassle to get, more would be sold and a lot of people would hear better. STUPID law/tax!

Todd

PS) since I probably just asked for 6K worth of firearms, can I win the powerball too?

A suppressed .22. There's this Yorkshire terrier....

Just kiddin'. Actually I'll just continue to bark back at it until it has a heart attack.

There's this Yorkshire terrier

The high powered, high capacity SuperSoaker works wonders on these type problems. Depending on the choice of ammunition used, cats and dogs running loose in the neighborhood learn real fast to avoid your yard. :)

Between Uncle Sugar and Class III sales demos, I've had enough full-auto to last a lifetime. Now, whisper tubes OTOH have practical merit. Nothing more annoying than whiney neighbors moaning about how your pest control methods are disturbing them.

Hmmmm..........Note to self: Explore the engineering and legal challenges associated with temporarily mating hand-cranked Gatling gun to old stationary multi-speed mountain bike.

Full auto is fun in limited doses.

I've never just blasted out a magazine full without regard to hitting my target. Carefully aimed 6 round bursts at differing reactive targets is just as enjoyable as any other shooting activity IMO.

At 25 yards It is not hard to empty 30 rounds from a Thompson into the
COM of a man sized sillouette in under 8 seconds. Muzzle climb is exaggerated by most in regards to pistol caliber full auto.

Careful trigger work is much more important when shooting battle rifles.
The long range results of careful bursts are gratifying when shooting
steel, water bottles, old cars etc...

I pray that in my lifetime full auto weapons will be available for reasonable prices once again.

LMAO --- Good one, I always wanted to know if handcranks Gatling guns were legal in Michigan......and if it comes with a mountain bike for good old heart work out even better.................

I wouldn't try to control your right to have it, but FAL's are too light to control FA, unless you get a heavy barrel, keep the bipod on it, and fire short bursts.

I wouldn't try to control your right to have it, but FAL's are too light to control FA

I've heard people say that, but I've shot my FAL rapid-fire and thought it was way more controllable than the M1A.

Well, if two conditions were met: 1) repeal of NFA and FOPA, and 2) I won Powerball, I'd love to have a few new toys.

These would include:
suppressed P-22
suppressed 9mm
F/A AK-47
M-16A4
M-249 SAW
MP-5SD

Of course, I'd end up wanting more, but these would suffice for the time being.

I could see myself opting for an extremely quite basement range a la a silenced .22 or something along those lines.

That's about it, though.

Full Auto would be fun but as others have stated that's a lot of money just to make some good noise. I think my full auto would be 22.LR, because it is so cheap and the recoil would be pretty conrrollable, now a silenced .22 to take care of the local cat problem would be great.

...which was uncontrollable even in heavier, pistol-gripped format.
